"The rest of the planet is about to find out what the soap world has known all along- Eva La Rue Callahan (ex-Maria) is a star! In the span of one week, she has landed two movies and is thisclose to joining the cast of a major primetime series.
The In Depth Story: 'There's a lot happening right now for her,' admits a source close to Callahan, who left AMC in 1997 to take a break and purse other interests.
For starters, the one-time Daytime Emmy nominee has snagged the lead in the independent film Little Pieces. In the picture, described as a comedy about serious relationships, she plays a woman with a Tourette's syndrome-type affliction. It co-stars Homicide: Life on the Street's Jon Seda and will be directed by talk show host Montel Williams. 'She's rehearsing right for that right now,' notes the source, adding that filming begins shortly in New York.
Additionally, Callahan is just a signature away from accepting a major role in another indie, one co-starring several of Hollywood's hottest young stars.
But the really big news is that Callahan is in talks to join a highly-rated drama series in a strong recurring role. At press time, she was meeting with show brass, and was the frontrunner for the plum part. According to sources, a final decision was imminent."
