"There is no doubt about it: AMC wants Eva La Rue Callahan (ex-Maria) to return to the set... now! An AMC executive tells Update: "It will be the happiest day of my life when that woman returns to the show!" La Rue Callahan still has close ties to the set: Her hubby John Callahan plays Edmund on AMC, and the couple obviously enjoys working together- that's how they fell in love! So, what's the holdup?
La Rue Callahan left AMC to pursue work in primetime, and after her sitcom met an early doom, she did return last summer to the soap. Maria's body was never found, but La Rue Callahan appeared as an angelic vision who gave her grieving husband the will to live. Alas, this Pine Valley visit was all too brief!
According to La Rue Callahan's manager, she was offered a movie co-starring Richard Grieco, but turned it down to stay in L.A. for pilot season. Others say that the actress is enjoying a bit of downtime, redecorating her home. The star has said, however, that her return "might happen this summer," and being that it's rumored the Callahans would like to start a family, and daytime is known as a supportive work environment for young mothers, don't be surprised if it's true.
