Computer: "Abort the search. Proceed no further."
Edmund: "What the hell?"
Alex: "What is that?"
Jack: "Oh, are you two telling me you have no idea who might have done this warning thing?"
Edmund: "It's not traceable. At least not by me."
Jack: "What about you, Alex? Do you know anything about computers and why... Alex?"
Edmund: "Alex, what is it?"
Alex: "That voice."
Edmund: "What about it?"
Alex: "I don't know. I don't know, exactly."
Edmund: "Listen to me. Somebody from your past doesn't want you to find out about it."
Jack: "Well, that's obvious. The question is, who?"
Guy [who's just entered]: "What's going on?"
Edmund: "Last time I checked, Guy, I own this joint."
Guy: "No disrespect, Mr. Grey, it's just you look kind of worried."
Jack: "Well, we're working on some Andrassy Foundation business. It can be quite worrisome."
Edmund: "Guy, didn't you just leave?"
Guy: "I did, but I needed to see Alex."
Alex: "Is something wrong?"
Guy: "No, just the opposite. I don't mean to intrude here, but Scorpio took the bit without a shudder, and I know you
like to keep up to date on the horses."
Alex: "Yeah, but do you need me now?"
Guy: "Well, if you want."
Edmund: "Look, why don't you go with Guy, okay? Jack and I will take care of this foundation thing."
Jack: "Thanks for your input, by the way."
Alex: "What is happening?"
Edmund: "We'll get to the bottom of it, ok? I promise. Okay?"
Alex: "Bye, Jackson."
Jack: "See you later. Nice to meet you." [Alex and Guy leave.]
Edmund: "Nothing"
Jack: "Hope you're not surprised. I mean, anybody that would go to this much trouble to keep the truth from her..."
Edmund: "Let's call Adrian. Maybe he knows somebody that can, you know, program this sort of a thing. I don't get
it, Jack. I mean, a verbal message to stay out of it?"
Jack: "You're right. Let's go see Adrian. Maybe he can call in a favor from the agency."
Alex and Guy are at the stable. Guy quries Alex about what happened in the
carriage house.
Alex: "Oh, it's family business."
Guy: "Yeah, and you're from a big family. I can understand that. Well, that makes me all the gladder I brought you
down here, because I think what I'm going to show you might make you forget about your troubles a little bit."
Alex: "All right. What is it I've got to see?"
Guy: "I broke him."
Alex: "Scorpio?"
Guy: "I rode him for the first time this morning."
Alex: "No. That's amazing."
Guy: "Yeah. He's an amazing animal."
Alex: "Oh, my... I can't believe how quick you work."
Guy: "No, actually, I think it was you."
Alex: "I haven't even been on him.
Guy: "Well, I think it's the time you spent with him, getting him used to your commands, your voice. Want to try
your luck?"
Alex: "Yeah, I really do. You think I can handle him?"
Guy: "Oh, I think you can handle him. Besides, I'll stay in the ring."
Alex: "Okay, good."
Guy: "All right? I took the liberty of..."
Alex: "My saddle's on him already?"
Guy: "Yeah. I didn't think you'd be able to resist."
Alex: "You know me too well."
Guy helps a wounded Alex into the stable office
after Scorpio threw her off.
Guy: "Oh, Alex. If I had
thought..."
Alex: "No, no, I'm fine. It's really my damn fault."
Guy: "I thought we had that horse more in hand."
Alex: "No, please don't blame him."
Guy: "Now, are you sure you only twisted your ankle? You didn't hit your head when he threw you?"
Alex: "No, I'm fine. Wait, you're the one that was kicked. Are you all right?"
Guy: "No, I'm all right. Here, let me take a look at your ankle, see if it's swelled up any."
Alex: "You know what? It's not. Really, I have had enough bad sprains in my time to know..."
Guy: "Well, so have I, so let me take a look and see. If something happened, maybe I can do something."
Alex: "Ooh... ah... Okay. It's not that bad."
Back at the carriage house....
Edmund: "Well, Jack, at least we've got somebody now who knows a little bit more about computers working on it."
Jack: "Yeah, quite a bit more, and he seemed pretty eager to help. That's good. Edmund, I got to say, it seems like
you're taking all this just a little bit personally."
Edmund: "How else should I take it? This came on my phone line in my home, Jack."
Jack: "Yeah, okay. That's true enough, I guess."
Edmund: "You got a point, Jack? Why don't you make it."
Jack: "Okay. Don't really know how to say it exactly, but..."
Edmund: "What?"
Jack: "Seems to me like maybe you're a little bit overly concerned about Alex."
Edmund: "She's my sister-in-law, okay?"
Jack: "Yeah."
Edmund: "And Dimitri asked me to look out for her. And she's being gas lighted from God knows where by some...
she doesn't remember her past, okay? Somebody doesn't want her to remember her past. Don't you think...
wouldn't you be concerned, Jack?"
Jack: "Fact, Edmund, I am."
Edmund: "Okay, great. All right, all right. So if you got a point, just come on, tell me, all right?"
Jack: "My point is that I don't want to see you lose your objectivity in all this. That's
all."
Edmund: "Jack, she's in danger, okay, from something that I can't see. And I can't put my...
I don't want to let my brother down, okay? She's... I don't want to lose her, too, okay? She's all I have left. Hey, listen, I got to tell her that
Adrian is on it, okay? Maybe it'll make her feel better. See you later."
Jack: "See you later."
Back at the stable, Guy is rubbing Alex's foot.
Guy: "How does it feel?"
Alex: "Yeah, it feels better. It really does. You're very good at that."
Guy: "You want to know why?"
Alex: "Mm-hmm."
Guy: "Because I spend all day rubbing the sore legs of horses. It's the same concept. In fact, I have some of the
same tricks."
Alex: "Horse liniment?"
Guy: "Yeah. So, what do you think, Doc? Safe for woman and beast?"
Alex: "You know what? I think I'll pass. But thanks."
Guy: "No?"
Alex: "I'm just going to try it out a bit."
Guy: "Hey, whoa. Whoa, whoa. Whoa, whoa."
Alex: "You are hurt."
Guy: "I'll be sore in the morning, but, you know, I may try a little bit of this myself, actually."
Alex: "Let me take a look at it. It's the least I can do."
Guy: "Oh, Alex, Alex..."
Alex: "No, you could have a broken rib. You're going to need an X-ray."
[She goes to look at his rib.]
Guy: "What are you doing?"
Alex: "I'm a doctor."
Guy: "All right."
Alex: "I want to take a look. I want to see if your rib is bruised."
Guy: "Owww. Ohhhh."
Alex: "You are bruised. Okay, you tell me where it's tender, please."
Guy: "Okay."
Alex: "Here?"
Guy: "Yeah."
Unbeknowst to them, Edmund has just walked in and
is not happy to see Alex treating Guy.
Edmund: "Ahem."
Alex: "Oh. Hi. We both got beaten up by Scorpio."
Edmund: "You let her get on Scorpio?"
Alex: "Yeah, guy rode him this morning. I mean, the horse is broken."
Edmund: "Oh, really? Looks like the other way around to me."
Alex: "Oh. It's not that bad."
Edmund: "Well, you're limping, and he's obviously quite tender."
Alex: "Well, guy got kicked, and I've just twisted my ankle. It's nothing."
Edmund: "Okay. You sure that's all?"
Guy: "I tried to keep her off her feet there, but..."
Alex: "He carried me in, actually."
Edmund [getting angrier]: "Oh, did you, now?"
Guy: "Yeah. It was a scary fall, but it probably looked worse than it was."
Alex: "Yeah, it really was."
Guy: "Okay."
Alex: "You know what? I think you've broken your rib. You need an X-ray."
Guy: "Oh, Alex..."
Alex: "I'm going to bandage you. I'm going to go and get my bag, and I don't want any arguments, ok? I'll be right
back." [She leaves, not noticing how angry Edmund is.]
Guy: "Oh, well. I guess I'm not going to argue with her."
Edmund: "What the hell are you trying to pull here?"
