Edmund Finds Alex in London (March 3, 2000)
After not being able to find Alex, Edmund realizes one of her suitcases is missing. He suspects she's bolted after their kiss the night before, and he confronts David, telling him he holds David responsible for Alex's fleeing Pine Valley. He then realizes where she would have gone- back to London. This scene takes place in the restaurant where Alex and Dimitri used to go. Edmund waits at a table alone, facing the entrance, waiting for Alex to show up.

Waitress: "Are you sure I can't get you anything, love?"

Edmund (looking up at her): "Oh, not yet." (He nods assuredly) "She'll come." (The waitress departs and Edmund goes back to staring at the doorway. He hears footsteps and stares intently. Alex enters wearing a camel-colored dress and shawl and talks to the waitress. She doesn't yet notice Edmund watching her.)

Alexandra (to the waitress): "Thank you so much." (The waitress walks away and Alex stops dead in her tracks when she spots Edmund watching her. Stunned, she pauses for a moment, then walks quickly over to him and motions to the empty chair across from him.) "May I?" (He starts to get up out of his seat but she quickly sits down, so he sits back down.) "I didn't expect to see you." (She grips the arms of her chair.)

Edmund: "The way you bolted from Pine Valley, I didn't think a warning was wise."

Alexandra: "So you knew you'd find me here."

Edmund: "This is where you come when you want to be with Dimitri."

Alexandra: "I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was leaving. I found out so many weird things about myself. I needed to come
home and try to get my head straight." (She smiles weakly.) "I hope you understand."

Edmund: "I do. I think, better than you do." (He leans forward.) "But I don't think you left Pine Valley because of what's happened to you. I think you left... because of what happened between us."

The scene fades out, then returns later. Alex is nervously arranging her shawl onto the chair and puts her gloves onto the table.
Edmund: "I know a lot of intense things have been happening to you, and I thought we were dealing with them together."

Alexandra: "Yes. I mean, I could never have handled any of this without you." (She crosses her hands and holds them against her chest.)

Edmund: "And then we kissed." (Alex's hands fall away.)  "And then you fell off the face of the earth."

Alexandra (lightly shaking her head): "I couldn't talk to you about it. I didn't know what it meant."

Edmund: "I didn't either. And then when I, I came to find you, when I... I had thought about it, and you weren't there and you left no..." (He looks away struggling for the words, then looks back at her) "...look, Alex, maybe I'm just being crazy here and I'm kidding myself. Maybe what happened between us meant nothing to you. And if it didn't," (He looks away again for a moment) "...just tell me, and I'll go."

Alexandra (softly): "No. You're not wrong. That was the reason that I left."

The scene fades, then returns later. A figure walks past, shown only from the waist down, wearing black clothing and gloves, and carrying a laptop.
Edmund: "I hope you don't regret what happened." (He places one hand on his glass, waiting for her response.)

Alexandra: "No. I wanted it to happen."

Edmund: "Me, too."

Alexandra (leans forward, looking unhappy): "I loved Dimitri. Obviously, I feel like I'm betraying him by wanting something like this."

Edmund: "You know, I thought about that. And we could never do that because we both loved him very much. You know, we played the who-loved-Dimitri-more game for a very long time" (She smiles at his kind description of their past shouting matches and arguments over Dimitri.) "I would never do anything to interfere with your memory of him."

Alexandra (looking serious): "I don't know if my future is in Pine Valley. I went there because Dimitri wanted to make it our home. But now that he's gone and with everything that's happened to me, I really feel that I should just..."

Edmund (quickly interrupts before she can finish): "Alex, Alex, Alex, that's why I'm here. That's what I came to tell you, ok? Just... we have to get to the bottom of what's going on with you. What happened between us is just a..." (He pauses, searching for the right words) "...we can set it aside, okay? And I promise you I won't pressure you in any way."

Alexandra (tilts her head, smiling fondly at him): "Oh, that's so typical of you."

Edmund (surprised at her response, he pauses before continuing): "What I'm trying to say is that I don't want any misunderstanding to..." (His voice falters for a moment) "...come in the way of whether or not you have a future in Pine Valley. You need some time to decide. There's a couple of people who can help you decide that... Sam and Maddie." (He smiles at her. She in turn is stunned by his words and leans back in her chair.) "They miss you. Please come home."

The scene fades out, then returns later.
Alexandra: "I can't make any promises right now."

Edmund: "I'm not asking for any."

Alexandra (leans forward and picks up her glass): "I wish I knew what Dimitri would have wanted for me ultimately. I mean, after I lost him, he still felt very close to me somehow. But now he seems to be getting further away, and I don't want that."

Edmund: "I'm not going to do anything to make that happen. Look, why don't we just focus on trying to figure out why you have these erratic changes in behavior."

Alexandra (firmly): "I don't want that."

Edmund: "What do you want, Alex?"

Alexandra (looks away): "I just want to get on with my life."

Edmund: "You know, you say that every time I suggest digging into your past."

Alexandra: "Do I?"

Edmund: "Very same thing. It's those exact words. It's almost like a mantra."

The scene fades out, then returns later.
Alexandra: "Don't you think you're letting your imagination run away with you?" (He gives her an innocent look.) "Oh, I don't want to talk about myself anymore. Uh, have you ever seen London at night?"

Edmund (grins broadly): "Yeah, but not with a local."

Alexandra: "Oh, it doesn't get more local than me." (She takes a last sip from her glass.) "Let's go." (They leave together.)

The mysterious person, who was seated at a table behind them, takes off his/her gloves and types into the laptop "Subject: A. Devane."
