A lot of words- some of them not so nice- come to mind when we think of
David, but "fearful" has never been among them. However, when
Dr. Hayward realized he was the only one who could save the lives of his
wife and unborn child, the unexpected emotion filled his face. Upon
voicing his anxiety to Anna, she assured him that anyone would be
nervous under the circumstances. "Anna you don't understand,"
he said, "I'm never afraid. Saving lives is what I do." And
although his wife remained uncertain of the fate of their marriage, one
thing she didn't doubt at all was the surgical skillls of her estranged
spouse. Bolstered by her support, David put aside his trepidation and
did what had to be done! (SID 3/18/03)
