Anna just manages to catch herself as she's about to take Robert's ELQ canneries files which Cesar had ordered her to take. She tells Robert what happened and he tells her to go ahead. The Cartel already knows what's in the files anyway Robert reasons. Pleased, Cesar orders Anna to get the rest of Robert's cartel files. Mac's not thrilled when he's assigned to convert Paul to their side. The two hate one another. Sean confirms the perfume factory is a front. Robert has files doctored to make it appear that someone from the Cartel is feeding him information, then decides to make that person Harlan. Anna passes the files to Cesar, who presents them to a disbelieving Taub. The duo have been arguing with Harlan recently. Harlan wants to bring Bill in as his protege, is unsympathetic to Taub's preoccupation with his wife and critizes Cesar's obsession with Anna. Despite that, Taub wants proof that Harlan's a traitor before agreeing to killing him. Mac and Anna stage a fire alarm to get into Taub's room. Anna just manages to plant the bugs and escape before Cesar and Taub return. 

Get Nancy
Bill starts getting suspicious of Harlan, who thinks Bill's the son he's always wanted. Sean agrees to do a background check on Harlan. Julia overhears and has a hissy. Bill and Sean learn Harlan's linked to Taub, and Bill confirms the two regularly talk to one another. His ex, Nancy, sues for custody when Bill refuses to give her any of his new found fortune. Cesar's upset to learn that a few vials of carbon disulfide are missing after Lucy steals them, which Nancy then steals from her to use against Bill to win custody of their son Sly. When Harlan learns about Bill's odd behavior at the custody hearing, he realizes that Nancy must have the stolen carbon disulfide vials. The Cartel decides she's a threat and want her terminated. 

Cesar surprises Anna in her room and unnerves her by asking if she's really hypnotized or faking it. He then orders her to kill Nancy. On a stormy night, Nancy's murdered at Bill's lighthouse. Apparently numerous people wanted her dead. At The Outback, Mac notices Cesar's burnt a small hole in his shirt. Cesar keeps his distance from Anna, who's confused when Mac mentions that Cesar must have changed his shirt as the burn is gone. Unbeknownst to them both, the real Cesar had arrived and switched places with his look-alive alibi, who removes a remarkably life-like mask. The real Cesar doesn't have a burn on his meticulous shirt.

Bill's gun is missing and he's arrested by Robert. Privately, Bill tells Robert about his plan to get rid of his annoying ex, which did not include murder. Harlan gets Bill out on bail. With the bugs Anna planted, Mac and Robert hear the Cartel decide not to invite Bill in as a member. Besides wondering how Bill fits in the puzzle, Robert's intrigued by Cesar's reference to his visit to the hospital which he claims will impress the visiting dignitaries. A vial is found in Nancy's spa locker along with evidence that she, Scott and Lucy sabatoged Bill's custody hearing.

Fathers
In the secret laboratory Sean and Robert set up, Tony thinks he's reproduced the cure. Sean's desperate for an extra pill which Tony needs to analyze before he can verify the results. Paul's afraid to help Sean because of his daughter but agrees after Sean attacks him. Paul then lies to an Cesar that his daughter lost her pill. After pleading, Paul adds that Sean told him Taub's room has been bugged. Cesar gives him the pill. With the pill Paul gives Sean, Tony's able to confirm his results. 

Felicia's grandmother, Maria, arrives and meets Connor. He tells her he's searching for a man known as El Patron because they may be related. Maria's friend might be able to help him. 

Letters From Loved Ones
A letter from Dom arrives telling Mac she's escaped from the sanitarium and will return to him when she gotten her life together. Later he learns she's returned to Shadowbrook to complete her therapy. She still loves him and wants a future with him. A nurse named Charlie develops a crush on Mac and lies that Dom's not fully recovering.

Felicia also gets a message from a loved one. Sean informs her that Frisco wants her and Maxie to join him in Texas. Felicia's torn after reading Frisco's letter. In remembrance of Maxie's Halloween birthday, Frisco then sends a clown doll, a pumpkin and a note saying "I love you both. Meet me in Texas." After much thought, Felicia decides to join him. Mac and Connor escort her to Texas.

In Texas, Connor meets Maria's friend, Consuela, who knew his mother. Consuela admits his mother had an affair and Connor thinks this El Patron is his father. Unfortunately Connor's hostile stepfather, Olivera, may be the only person who can tell him who El Patron is. Consuela is unable to convince Olivera to meet with Connor. Frisco and Felicia are happily reunited. 

Solving Nancy's Murder
Poking around Cesar's room, Anna and Mac find a mask of Faison's face. Robert and Anna guess it gives Cesar an alibi and the ability to be in two places at once. The cornoer reports that Nancy died due to gun shoots and analysts confirm the vil found in her locker contained carbon disulfied. Bill's cleared of charges and agrees to help Robert and gang nail the Cartel. Scotty and Lucy are arrested instead but refuse to confess. Anna strikes up a friendship with Julia to get a nail sample. It matches the scratch on Nancy's neck. Robert and Mac get Nick Barnes to confess he donned Faison's mask to give him an alibi the night of Nancy's murder. Without proof, Robert's forced to release Scotty and Lucy. Learning of their part in Nancy's custody scheme, Bill files to have Scotty disbarred. Robert figures out who the killer is, thanks to Lewis's help, and calls all the murder suspects back to the lighthouse.

After accusing each suspect of the murder, Bill proclaims his innocent when Robert produces evidence that he murdered Nancy. Finian confesses as Bill's about to be arrested, as Robert had hoped. Bill's sympathetic to Finian's actions as he did it to protect Bill's son, Sly. Finian's sentenced to five years probation. Sly forgives him and asks for him to come back as his nanny.

Scorpio Dies
Bill agrees to join Robert's sting and meets with the Cartel. They're still leery of him but offer a series of loyalty tests for entrance into the group. Later, a guard tells the Cartel he saw Bill and Robert investigating the secret room. Bill lies that Robert had a search warrant. Robert gives Bill blueprints of the police station and personnel and payroll info that the Cartel orders him to get. Paul snaps when the Cartel threatens to kill Tracy if he doesn't get control of her ELQ shares. He tells Sean he's joining the gang in bringing the Cartel down. The Cartel give Bill one more loyalty test- kill Robert Scorpio. Bill and Robert set up a fake shooting, but Bill's forced to kill Harlan after he emerges from the shadows and wants to shoot Robert himself to ensure Scorpio's dead. Shaken, Bill struggles to figure out how to tell Harlan's daughter, Julia, whom Bill is romanticall involved with. Meeting with Taub and Cesar, Bill lies that Harlan tried to stop him from killing Robert. Thanks to Robert's falsified files that say Harlan was a traitor, the duo believe him.
