Time's Running Out
Robert and gang figure out that PC's Founder's Day is the
target day for the Cartel's mysterious demonstration. They're right. The cartel
has decided to test the carbon
disulfide on Founder's Day. Anna hears that a foreign dignitary, Ahmed Hakeem,
is ill at GH and charms him dressed as a nurse. As he's telling Anna about his
bosses arrival, Tony and Bobbie enter and force Anna to leave.
Bill tells Harlan
he wants in, so Harlan arranges a meeting with the other Cartel members. Still
unsure of him, Taub and Cesar require a loyalty test- make sure ELQ doesn't sell
any of its canneries. Bill and his friend Russell discover the secret room at
the plant where the Cartel is producing carbon disulfied. Paul and Bill prevent
the Qs from selling the canneries.
The Cartel arrange for the Founder's
Day activities to be televised. Edward's death is confirmed as murder once the
WSB crack the Cartel's code book. Bill's suspicious when he discovers empty
tanks at the cannery which later disappear. Anna suggest Sean arrange for Paul's
daughter to be protected by the WSB. The WSB arranges for the EPA to inspect the
other canneries and stop construction of more secret rooms [to produce carbon
disulfide].
Snooping around, Mac learns Taub is
housing a global peace group on the tenth floor of the PC Hotel. He manages to
get a list of the occupants and Sean confirms they're all rebel types in their
countries. Anna researches Edward's death and discovers the pilot, who survived,
is Taub's stepbrother. His lavish lifestyle tips Anna off, though he claims he
inherited family money. Another survivor of the plane crash suggests Edward
might have been picked up by a rescue boat. Traveling to the Bahamas, Anna
learns of a beach bum that fits Edward's description and finally manages to
track him down. "Hank" is thrilled to see Anna; Edward's been
pretending to be a beach bum in case the Cartel learned he was still alive. A
victorious Anna brings Edward home.
Paul attacks Cesar after he produces
a vial that will kill Tracy. Cesar stabs him but then is knocked out by a
wounded Paul. Sean finds Paul collapsed nearby and rushes him to GH. Before
being rushed to surgery, Paul gives a guilt-ridden Sean the vial. Tony tests the
vial. As a delivery man hides the missing tanks at The Outback, Robert and Anna
desperately try to locate the them.
Founder's Day Massacre
The dignitaries gather in a room filled with tv
monitors. Bill and a disguised Robert are among the attendees. The monitors
focus on the activities at GH, The Outback and the police station. As the
ballons are released at these locations, a horrified Bill realizes they're
filled with carbon disulfide and tries to stop it. Cesar disarms Bill and forces
him to watch. A nervous Robert prays Anna's replaced the tanks beforehand. On
the monitors, people start getting dizzy and dropping like flies. The greedy
dignitaries eagerly agree to buy into the Cartel's gas while a stunned Robert
and Bill stand back.
Suddenly, Anna charges into the room with the
backup. Cesar and Taub are stunned when Anna informs them that she and Mac figured out where the tanks
were and replaced them with helium. Mac and Connor tied up the Cartel's thugs
while Anna had gotten the citizens of PC to play dead. Anna then presents a very
much alive Edward Quartermaine to the stunned duo. A smug Robert then rips off
his mask and tells everyone they're under arrest.
Aftermath
Cesar's oddly impressed with Anna's actions and
continues to make cow eyes at her. Robert's annoyed as usual when Cesar warns
Anna they'll meet again. She secretly visits Cesar in his prison cell and is
surprised that's he's sneaked a pen away from one of the officers. Write me a
letter he arrogantly suggests. Brave facade down, he asks her if she's happy to
see him locked up. Anna tearfully responds no, but she didn't know how else to
stop him. She then tells him she's releasing him from his obsession with her in
the hopes he'll get on with his life. Sean interrupts them and Anna rushes out. Almost in tears himself, Cesar
tears up his cell in anger. Taub and Cesar are taken away by
the WSB.
Sean comes to Paul's rescue and prevents an
assassin from killing Paul in the hospital. Edward's reunited with his family
but won't forgive Paul. Tracy won't let Paul out of their marriage despite
knowing why he really married her although she is touched to learn that Paul's
knifing resulted from him refusing to let Cesar hurt her. A heartbroken Jenny
agrees to marry Ned since she can't have Paul.
Bill confesses his part in
Harlan's murder to Julia. She freaks and wants to dissolve their partnership.
Her tantrums finally cause Bill to put his foot down and he tells her he won't
sell. She has to sell her half to him if she wants out of their partnership.
