The Hit on Dan
Damon introduces his henchmen
to Mr. Big- it's co-police chief Bert Ramsey! Since Dan Rooney,
Commissioner of Waterfront Development, has rejected the shoddy
construction plans for Fisherman Village, Bert arranges for Dan to be a
victim of a hit-and-run accident that almost severs Dan's hand. Bert also
postpones the hit on the Joneses until he can get the printout back and
instructs Damon to buy an interest in Purity Water in order to use
Laurelton as a money laundering center in the future.
At the hospital,
several of Dan's friends gather and await news on his surgery. Duke
finds an upset Anna there and refuses to let her brush him off.
They're still upset with each other after Anna grilled him
earlier.
Anna:
"I thought you felt that all female cops were cold and uncaring and
they only thought about their jobs?"
Duke: "I'm sorry about all the harsh words,
Anna."
Anna: "I'm a cop first, Duke. And I'm sorry if I have
to investigate you and your connection to the ADZ warehouse. It's my
job.
Duke: "I'm trying very had to accept that. But I want you
to know one thing."
Anna:
"What?"
Duke: "I am a man first. And I care very much for the
woman. And any job I do comes second when that woman is hurting or in
trouble."
Anna's still unable to let it go. She
can't get past her instincts that Duke is involved in Frisco and
Felicia's problems.
Duke (grabbing her as she tries to walk away):
"If you love someone you trust them no matter what."
Anna: "No, if you love someone you level with them.
You level with them and you tell them the truth no matter if it hurts
them or not. I learned that a long time ago."
Duke (pleading): "I'll tell you everything. Just give
me a little time."
Anna: "We don't have any more time. That is something we
are running out of rapidly."
Duke: "Don't look at me like that. I love
you, Anna."
Anna (sadly):
"I really thought you did."
Duke: "Don't doubt it."
Anna: "I don't want to. But Duke, there are just oo
many unanswered questions."
Duke: "Okay but you know one thing. I love you... and I
would never do anything to intentionally hurt you or anyone close to
you. And I mean that. And you remember what we have had
together." (She turns to leave but he grabs her) "You
remember that! And don't you walk away from me when I am trying to
salvage a future for the two of us out of this mess."
Lovers on the Run
When Frisco keeps digging, Duke's forced
to take action. Damon arranges for a hitman to shoot Frisco on the night he
sings at the club.
Duke gets Felicia to sign a deposit slip for $50,000, then he
and Angel arrange for a fur coat and a box of money to arrive at the Jones's
apartment. The box is sent under the guise of a birthday present for Tiffany
Hill. A unsuspecting Felicia calls Anna when the bank calls about the
missing funds. After Sam, who's overheard Anna talking to the banker and
Duke, clues Frisco in on the missing money, he comes home
to talk to his wife.
Felicia's
excitement over the printout, which she grabbed after Toughie forgot to
turn off the computer, fades as the duo realize someone's trying to
set Felicia up. Frisco opens Tiffany's box and finds the stolen fur and
money. His waterfront informant, Tessie, calls and, after warning Frisco
that they are being set up, tells the couple
to meet her waterfront. There,
the couple only find a note saying "Meet me on Pier 48 in N.Y.C. I
have information that could clear us all." The couple are then
forced to flee on a motorcycle, taking along with them
the fur, money and a computer printout. The printout is in code and the
couple hope to break it in order to expose the mob activities.
Wild Goose Chases
The evidence that Felicia is a thief and Frisco is her accomplice on
the lam is mounting. Even Anna and her friends at the police force wonder
why some of the stolen money was found in the couple's apartment. Then a
man who is shown their wedding picture identifies Frisco and Felicia as
the people who stole his motorcycle. But Anna wants to find something more
than circumstantial evidence before she makes a move. Then she learns a
couple fitting their description has been arrested in Manhatten. The NYPD
are holding the pair who stole the goods from the Joneses!
Meanwhile, Robin lets it slip to Duke
that her mom is in New York. Duke realizes that Anna is coming closer and
closer to discovering his involvement in the Tumble Dry scam. Besides,
Toughie is certain that Felicia took the computer printout from his files.
When Damon learns about this, he hires another hit man to eliminate Frisco
once and for all. The couple themselves are having a tough time on the
road. They are repeatedly set up by Tessie's tricky friend, Martha, who
sends the guillible duo to Cincinnati. There, they lose the rest of their
money and the fur as Martha's errand boy robs them and leaves them tied up
in a hotel room with a "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging on the
door.
After freeing themselves,
the couple are almost nabbed by Howie the hitman when, at a bus
terminal, he invites them to dinner at his home. The penniless couple
agree but as they are heading out Frisco trips and cries that he's
sprained his ankle. Could you ask your wife to bring the car to the
door? asks the clever cop. While Howie's outside with the car, Frisco
informs Felicia he felt a gun in Howie's breast pocket when Howie helped
him up. The couple flee. Damon's furious when he learns the Joneses
escape and hires another hitman, this time a grandmotherly-type woman
named Edna. When Frisco and Felicia overhear Edna talking about how
senior citizens get a discount ticket on bus tickets to Atlantic City,
they disguise themselves as elderly people and board a bus for the town
they think the Tumble Dry operation is located. Edna boards the bus with
them. Wooing
Sean and Charity
Alan's taking to village life quite well
and continues to woo Charity, who's uncertain about "Simon's"
marital status. His determination to stay with her and not
"remember" the past wins the lady over. Frustrated by Alan's
delay, Edward and Jimmy Lee visit in the hopes of convincing Alan to
return home to complete their plan to imprison Sean. But Alan's having
too much fun playing the amnesiac Simon. Tiffany
complains that she can't seduce Sean if Monica's always present so
Edward guilts the doc into visiting her sons in Switzerland. Although
Sean warns her not to leave the country while she is under
investigation, Monica makes up her mind to go after seeing a
lipstick-smudged tissue, left by Tiff, on his floor. Sean issues the
ultimatium that if she walks out the door, they're through. The angry
doc storms off. When
Sean investigates the movement of washing machines to and from the ADZ
warehouse at Anna's request, Bert turns his attentions to him. A slimy
European connection slips him the information about the Swiss bank
account that Edward's been trying to find. The bank account, code-named
"Monica," holds the exact amount that Qs are accusing Donely
of stealing. Privately, Sean admits to the deed to Anna, who doesn't
believe he or Monica killed Alan. Bert, without consulting Anna, insists on booking Sean and the
claustophobic ex-spy is forced to send the night in jail.
