Classic Duke Quotes
*1987*
Frisco's trying to help Duke feel better about Anna's refusal to take him back.
Duke (shaking his head): "You know, I don't think I've ever come across a more hard headed woman."
Frisco (laughs): "Well,
I'll agree with you there. She's one of the most hard headed, stubborn women I've ever run
against... (pauses).. You know, if there's one person who can handle her, it's
Robert."
Duke (not pleased to hear
that): "Well, thank you very much. I wonder what he'd do in my
place."
Frisco (realizing his faux
pas): "Well, he's really happy with Holly, you know."
What both don't know yet is Robert's just arrived in PC that morning, and told Anna and
Sean that his wife, Holly, was killed in a plane crash.
Later that day, Duke accuses Anna of turning to Robert to avoid
admitting she's still in love with him.
Duke: "Yeah, you should be
sorry." (turning away from her) "Unlike other people, I don't call
in outside help to solve my problems."
Anna: "Meaning what?"
Duke: "Meaning Robin didn't send
for Robert this time, she said so herself."
Anna: "You think I did? Oh,
do you think I'm in such a mess that I had to send for my knight in shining armour?"
Duke: "Well, it certainly seems
that way. You remember what you said to me yesterday? You told me Robert was
your first love, you never said anything about him being your last."
Another scene- Duke
and Anna's wedding vows.
Duke: "Anna, I love Robin as
sincerely as I love you. You're both my very special family. I'd like to quote some
Scottish literature if I can get it out! Our love is a circle. It has no end.
That is my solemn vow."
Anna: "For you, Duke, I'll stay
within that circle. And I pledge you my eternal love. That is my solemn vow to
you."
Priest: "Now that Duke and Anna have
given themselves to each other by solemn vows, joining of hands, and the giving and
receiving of rings, I pronounce that they are man and wife, in the name of the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit. What God hath joined together, let no one put asunder. Amen.
Now, Duke, you may kiss the bride."
Duke: "At last!"
