Memories of a Lifetime
Robin asks Stone
to call his brother, Jagger, because he has a right to know that Stone has AIDS.
Coincidentally, Jagger and his wife, Karen, are coming to PC for a visit. Stone
informs Jagger and Karen that he has AIDS. Jagger wonders how he can swing the
hospital bills. Stone admits that Sonny's been a big help. Despite his hatred of
Sonny, Jagger applauds Stone for his strength in handling the disease. Brenda,
Karen and Jagger call a truce. They all talk about Stone's condition and Brenda
assures them that Stone has tons of support. At Stone's insistence, Jagger and
Karen return to Chicago. Stone then calls his sister, Gina, and tells her about
his condition. Gina can't deal with it. She refuses to inform her adoptive
family that her brother has AIDS. A disappointed Stone bids good-bye to his
sister forever.
Mac has a
surprise party for Robin's birthday at the Q's house. The guests give Stone the
memory book they've prepared. Some of the entries include:
-Dear Stone,
In many ways, Robin has been my daughter.
In all ways, she has been my best friend. I have laughed with her and
wept with her and worried about her and rejoiced with her, and I've come
to understand how deeply and truly she loves you- and how much you love
her in return. You both grew up so quickly, and you continue to grow so
bravely. I admire you, and I celebrate you both.
With love, Felicia
-Dear Stone,
My first impression was that you were a
screw-up. This was also the subject of my first real argument with
Corinthos. I did, however, from the start appreciate your style in
getting in Mac's face. Regrettably for you, it reminded me of me at your
age.
My second impression was that Corinthos
was right; I was wrong. This happens occassionally, if infrequently. But
there it was: you had potential.
My current impression is that you are a
man whom I would be damn grateful to have at my side or guarding my back
in perilous times. I wish my friend Robert Scorpio could have known you.
I'm glad I do.
Luke
-Dear Stone,
Shortly after you came into Robin's life
and mine, I began grinding my teeth at night. Rather than walk around
with an aching jaw and loose molars, I trained myself to wake up when I
started to grind, and subsequently spent a lot of time lying in the dark
and thinking about the kind of guy I'd choose for Robin if I had any
choice in the matter, which I clearly didn't.
He would think of her before himself. He
would commit himself to loving her, cherishing her, understanding her.
He would respect her intellectual gifts. He would have something unique
and valuable coming from his own experience to offer her in exchange for
what she brought to him. He would be unconventional, but understand the
social contract. He would have a wide diversity of friends. He would be
loyal to them. He would have humor. He would have courage.
And then I realized the guy I would
choose for Robin sounded more and more like you. I forgot one thing. He
would think I am incredibly smart and indescribably cool. Okay. We can
work on that.
Mac
Stone is touched, especially when he reads the letter that Mac
placed in his memory book. Stone heads to the Outback to thank his new ally just as
Damian arrives and catches Kat flirting with Mac. Suddenly, Stone has a seizure
and falls to the floor. Mac rushes to help Stone, despite the fact that blood is
pouring out of Stone's head wound. At the hospital, Stone learns from Alan that
he has contracted toxoplasmosis. He asks Alan to put him out of his misery. An
irate Robin turns on Stone: Their time together is already so limited- she'll
have none of that.
Lucky also
hires Mac (for $25) to help him find Corrie Gibbons, but neglects to inform Mac
that she's Emily's aunt. Mac discovers that Corrie lives in Boston. The kids
take off after her.
Felicia's New Man
Felicia speaks to Simone about the
importance of Tommy having his father around and she agrees to let Tom
spend more time with his son. Tom thanks Felicia for talking to his ex
and later they share an electric moment when she locks herself out of
the brownstone and gets drenched in the rain. Afterward, they make a
dinner date. Tony agrees to babysit for Felicia's kids, but when he
realizes that she's going on a date with Tom Hardy, he gets
jealous.
Stone's Failing Health
A puzzled
Alan admits to Stone that tests show that he does not have toxoplasmosis. After
hearing the news, Stone has another seizure; Robin comforts him. Tony will
perform a brain biopsy in the morning to find out what's wrong. Stone shaves his
head in preparation for the procedure.
Brenda and Sonny agree to be civil to each other for Stone's
sake. Stone learns that his seizures were caused by lymphoma. He decides to
forego treatment, so Alan gives him three to six weeks to live. Robin agrees to
support Stone's decision, but she would give anything for more time. Sonny
arranges to care for Stone at home. Felicia has a Halloween/birthday party for
Maxie. Stone and Robin attend, to the surprise of other guests. Stone explains
that he doesn't want to miss one moment of the time he has left. Maxie asks
Felicia if Stone is going to die. Felicia says yes, and sadly explains death to
her little daughter.
Live for Tomorrow
Luke takes Stone bungee jumping off a
bridge. Later, Stone makes out a list of all the things he wants to do
before he dies. With Sonny's help, Stone buys Robin an antique ring as a
symbol of their love. Stone also gives a speech about AIDS at Lucky's
school. One boy calls Stone a faggot; a disappointed Stone can't believe
how ignorant young people can be. Both Lucky and Emily marvel at Stone's
courageous attitude. Stone also encourages Sonny to resolve his feelings
for Brenda.
No Fairytale Ending
Robin tells Stone that
she is grateful to have the chance to say goodbye; she never had that
opportunity with other people she's lost in her life. Stone urges her to
get another HIV test; he needs to know that she will be all right.
Alan breaks the news to
Robin that she is HIV positive. He stresses that it wouldn't be healthy
for her to go into denial- she must share this with Mac. A pensive Robin
cries out for help from her dead mother, Anna, and envisions her mom's
spirit holding her. Anna cradles her daughter and observes how beautiful
she's become. [transcript] Later, the spirit of Robin's father, Robert, urges his
daughter to let Mac help her. When a lonely Robin opens her eyes, her
parents are gone. A saddened Luke also has an imaginary conversation
with his deceased best friend Robert.
Robin calls Kevin, and
they debate whether or not she should advise Stone of her condition.
Both agree that Mac should know ASAP. Later, Robin summons up her
courage and tells Mac. He assures her that since her HIV was detected
early, she still has a chance at a long life. Mac urges Robin to notify
Stone and she gently breaks the news to her love. Stone's devastated and
Mac tries to convince him it's not his fault. Despite his deteriorating
condition, Stone reacts to Robin's news with an agonizing scream.
As Stone grows weaker,
his loved ones stay nearby. Mac takes turns with Sonny watching over
both kids. As Robin stands before a window, Stone tells her "I see
you, Robin, I see you," and then quietly slips aways. A tearful
Robin runs her hands lovingly over his face then curls up with
him.
On December 1st, a memorial service is held at Sonny's
penthouse and attended by friends and family. Before the ceremony, Sonny
gives Robin a letter he found in Stone's dresser drawer with "Plese
give to Robin" written on the envelope.
Dear Robin,
This is the first letter I ever wrote.
It's rite that it is to you, because without you, I wouldnt be able to
do this much. I am writing it now because I think pretty soon I wont be
able to see to do it.
I love you. I will not say goodby to you.
I do not know where I am going but I believe it is to some place and I
will go on loving you there always.
If I do not know you I wuld not mind
dying, becaus I love you I do not want to leve my life. I just want to
hold you and look at you and listen to you, and this seems so butiful to
me and so good that it hurts, and there is pain in my chest, and it is
my heart.
I want your life to be long and full of
love becaus then you will be happy. I want you to have years to give the
world that what you gave me becaus it will be a better
place like I am beter becaus you love me. And then where ever it is I
will see you again.

Tom's Problems Grow
Tom seeks comfort from Felicia
after learning that Simone is engaged to Justus. They have a heart-to-heart but
later a jealous Tom plots to make his ex jealous through Felicia. Felicia
catches on though and refuses to attend Mary Mae's concert
in Philadelphia. Right before Mary Mae comes on stage, Tom pretends to be drunk and gives
Simone a big smack on the lips. Justus then punches him out. Brenda and
Sonny make small talk about Stone and spend the evening making eyes at
one another.
After Stone's memorial service, Simone
asks Tom to watch Tommy for the night. As Tom explains to his son what
happened to Stone, he suddenly experiences a panic attack. A scared
Tommy asks Felicia to talk to his daddy. Tom breaks down and tearfully
describes to Felicia the atrocities he witnessed in Africa. Heeding
Felicia's request, he seeks counseling from Kevin.
Trying to Nail Damian
Mac informs Garcia that Katherine has been
providing him with the dirt on Damian- but since she's frightened for
her life, Luke must still be cited as the official source. Later, Kat
gives Mac a lead on one of Damian's safe-deposit boses. Mac delivers the
scoop to Garcia. To their surprise, the Feds have already seized
Damian's box. When Damian and Sonny hear the news, Damian warns his
secret partner that there will be serious trouble ahead.
After learning that the case against
Damian could be harmful to Sonny, Luke warns Mac to stop using him as a
cover. Elsewhere, Damian reveals the illegal contents of the
safe-deposit box to a frantic Sonny. Bother men are doubtful that Luke
is the real informant. Sonny suggests Luke buy him out of the club so
Luke won't be incriminated. Luke agrees and asks an agreeable Lucy to be
his new partner.
Sentimental Journey
A grieving Robin wants everyone who loved
Stone to have something to remember him by. She gives Stone's rings to
Sonny and his wallet to Brenda, with a reminder that Stone wouldn't want
her to give up on Sonny. Robin also delivers some of Stone's belonging
to Lois and Ned. Sonny surprises Mac by giving him one of Stone's rings.
Mac admits to robin that Sonny isn't a total devil, but warns her not to
think he's an angel, either. Meanwhile, after another encounter with
Damian, Katherine is certain that she needs to leave town for her own
safety. Mac declares that he will not give up on the Sonny/Damian case.
