Robert and Anna Tell Robin Why They are Her Parents

Here, Robert and Anna have just found Robin after she ran away upon finding out Robert and Anna were her parents.   Setting: Scorpio living room, 1985.

Robin (coming down the stairs): "Why is everybody walking around the room?"

Anna (looking at Robert): "You've got me doing it now."

Robert (bending down to talk to Robin): "Uh, well, you see, your mother and I are anxious to have a bit of a chat with you to explain some things.  Now, yesterday you said you didn't want to talk because it was Thansgiving. Well, uh, Thanksgiving has now past so I was wondering if we could have that little chat now."

Robin (looking excited):  "Are you going to tell me a story Robbie?"

Robert: "Not exactly..."

Anna (interuppting): "Well, kind of, I meanit's like a real story.  A true story."

Robert: "Yeah, Daddy wants to explain to you why we haven't been together all these years.  Come here."  (He takes her to the couch, and pulls her onto his knee).   "Sit on my knee.  There, but before we do that, I want to tell you that your mother and I love you very very much. Perhaps more than regular parents."

Robin: "How come you're not like other parents?"

Robert: "Well..."   (he clears his throat)  "... it just didn't work out that way."

Robin (looking at Robert): "You could have told me that you're my mommy and daddy."

Anna: "Well, yes, we should have."

Robin: "Didn't you want me to know?  Were you ashamed of me?"

Robert and Anna (in unison):  "No!"

Robert: "No darling, no.  We couldn't be prouder of you."

Anna: "You're the most important thing in our life."

Robin: "Then why didn't you tell me?"

Anna: "Well, we wanted to, but you see we were afraid.  I mean, we loved you so much we just didn't want to hurt you."

Robin: "But you did!  Not telling me hurt a lot!"

Robert: "Yeah, well, we know that now.  We know that we made a very big mistake."

Anna: "We're very sorry.  But you see, we were waiting for the right moment and we just waited too long."

Robert: "Can you forgive us?  Hmm?"

Robin (looking at Robert): "Do you love Mommy?"

Robert: "You're mother and I loved each other very much before you were born.  That makes you very special."

Anna: "A love child."

Robin (looking at Anna): "What's a love child?"

Anna: "It's just a child born out of love and it just means that she will be surrounded by love for all her life."

Robin: "Always?"

Robert: "Always."

Robin (looking at Robert): "Promise you'll love me forever?"

Robert: "Forever."

Anna: "Promise."   (She licks her finger and crosses her heart)

Robert (Copying Anna, does the same): "Yep."

Robin: "Okay, I'll forgive you.  But don't ever do that again!"

Robert and Anna laugh as they hug Robin.
