The setting: Robin and the Ancient One's hideout in the boathouse in the Asian Quarter (1985)

Robin: "Ancient one, what are you doing?"

Ancient One: "I'm going out, Little One.  Very important business today."

Robin: "But you said that it was dangerous to go out."

Ancient One: Well, it is dangerous, but I have to take care of my people today.

Robin (tightly hugging him and gently whining): "No, please don't go.   Please!"

Ancient One (sympathetically): "Oh."  (then in his normal voice)  "I am going to have to ask you to be very brave.  Can you do that for me?"

The Scene fades as Robin nods and smile up at the Ancient One.  The scene then opens with Robin standing close to the Ancient One by the door.  Robin asks a mumbled question.

Ancient One: "Well, I am going to try to find her.  You are home sick, aren't you?"  (I think this is the sentence. He may have said "homestead" or "homesake" however)

Robin: "Yes. Can you find my Grandma?"

Ancient One: "If you help, Robin.  Uh..tell me her name again."

Robin: "Filomenia."

Ancient One: "What is her last name?"

Robin: "Soltini.  Just like mine but Filo... Filomenia Soltini."

Ancient One: "Yes.  I will try to find her in the phone book.  Is there anybody you know who could help me Robin?"

Robin: "I don't' know... Oh wait!  Maybe Buzz would help."

Ancient One: "Who is this Buzz?"

Robin: "He is my friend.  He drives the hospital van and rings the bell."

Ancient One: "Oh yes, I have seen it.  I will look for it today."

Robin: "Tell him I want to see my Grandma"  (she helps him put on his rain coat) "Will you tell him?"

Ancient One: "I will tell him.  Well, is there anything that I can bring back to you?"

Robin: "Well, I am a little hungry."

Ancient One: "Well, I will bring you some fruit."

Robin (smiles): "Okay!"

Ancient One: "You must lock the door behind me."

Robin: "I know."

Ancient One: "I will knock like this."  (he knocks a pattern on the door)   "Do not unlock the door unless you hear our secret knock."

Robin: "I know all about secret knocks.  This is like the game I used to play with Robbie and Luv."

Ancient One: "Oh, don't you miss them too?"

Robin (looking down sadly): "Yes, but Luv was mean to me.  She should have told me that she was my Mommy."

Ancient One: "Oh, I think she must have had a good reason not to tell you."

Robin: "I guess she didn't want me for her little girl."

Ancient One: "Oh, that can't be true."  (He gives Robin a hug)  "But now you have a very big family.  Everyone in the Ancient Quarter will love you because you found the pearls.  Remember."  (He knocks the pattern on the door again)  "Remember our secret code."

Robin: "I will remember."

Ancient One: "Good.  Good."  (He puts on his hat, and starts to open the door)

Robin: "Wait!" (She reaches her arms toward him for a hug)

Ancient One: "Oh, yeah. Now you be brave now. Be brave."

The Ancient One closes the door and walks away with the black pearls.  Robin closes and locks the door. She walks over to a crate and pulls herself on top of it.  She rubs her eyes, and shakes her head.  Sadly, she looks down, then into the camera.

Robin: "You should have told me you're my mother Luv.  You really should have."

Ever since I first saw scenes with Robin and the Ancient One I've thought that he taught Robin a lot about the forgiveness, love and truthfulness that had always been such a big part of the character [of Robin].
