Robert and Self-Control

Robert: "Well, I'm here as summoned.  Is she asleep?  Maybe?  I hope."

Anna: "No, she's very much awake."

Robin (calling from her room): "Is that you, father?"

Robert: "Father?  Yes it's father. Come give father a big sloppy kiss."

Robin: "Don't tempt me!  What exactly happened today?"

Robert: "Well, I took a blood test, just like you.  How's my girl? Working hard at school?"

Robin: "DAD! Don't try to change the subject!"

Robert: "What subject?"

Robin (angrily, under her breath at Anna): "Tell him please."

Anna: "Lucas."

Robin: "Yes, Lucas. Now precisely, is he my brother?"

Robert (becoming exasperated): "No!"

Robin: "So the blood tests shoed that?"

Robert: "Not exactly..."

Robin: "Well is he or isn't her?"

Robert: "The only thing he is is Cheryl's."

Anna: "How enlightening."

Robin: "The truth now PLEASE.  Are you the father?  Is the child the fruit of your loins?"

Robert (speaking to Anna with increasing anger): "The fruit of my...?"

Anna (quickly): "It's okay.  It's in the bible (referring to the fruit of the loins term). Why don't you answer her question?"

Robert: "We'll know tomorrow."

Robin: "So how did Bobbie get Lucas in the first place?"

Robert: "It's a long story.  It's getting late and..."

Robin: "Father! I'm not a child, so please don't treat me as such. Did you know about Lucas all this time?"

Robert: "No!  I just found out, and when I did, I did what I had to."

Robin: "Did Bobby know all along Lucas was Cheryl's?"

Robert: "ENOUGH!  Part of the time.  Don't you want to go to bed?"

Robin: "I'm not finished yet."

Anna: "Sweetheart, maybe you should go to bed.  I can take are of your father."  (Robin goes to her room)

Robert: "Look Anna, I..."

Anna: "I'd really like to know what happened too."

Robert: "Some other time.  Do we really have to talk about it?"

Anna: "Yes.  I'd like to talk about it."

Robert: "Look, I've been talking about it, and discussing it all day and I'm sick of it. Goodnight!"  (He begins to walk toward the door)

Robin (coming to the door of her room): "Dad, you know you're really weird."

Robert: "Weird me? I'm weird."  (He shrugs his shoulders and continues for the door.)

Robin: "You know the best form of birth control is self control and protection.  You know if you would have just been responsible..."

Robert (running toward Robin): " I'm warning you, young lady."

Anna (quickly intercepting Robert as Robin slams her door): "Okay, okay."

Robert: "What type of child are you rearing here?"

Anna: "Well, she's right, Robert."  (She sweetly smiles as Robert walks away defeated.)
