Robin Overhears Her Parents Arguing

The Anna and Mr. Wu encounter/fiasco past them, Robert and Anna sit down at home to
discuss their daughter and the Asian Quarter situation...

Robert: "I went for a long walk on the way home.  Wanted to clear my head. Did a lot of thinking about Robin."

Anna: "What Sean and Frisco are doing- I think is gonna put an end to this nightmare.  I mean, we can't keep that little girl locked up any longer."

Robert: "If I only knew who had those pearls!   I could get them back, return them to the rightful owner, and this whole mess would be over."

Anna (gets up angrily): "Damn those pearls! See! It all started with the jade buddhas!"

Robert: "Don't go back there, Anna."

Anna: "Oh, I've got us all into this."

Robert: "Enough!"  (She quiets down, startled by his tone.)

Anna: "Alright."  (She puts her head on his shoulder.)  "We're both on edge Robert.  I don't want Robin to see this.  She's gonna start asking questions anyway."

Robert: "Questions about what?"

Anna: "Oh, I don't know.  Call it instinct, insight, whatever you want.  She's gonna know that there's something special about us concerning her.  I mean, just the way when you hold her in your arms... the look on your face.  It..." (He walks away from her into the WSB room and she follows him.)

Robert: "You sound like Bert Ramsey."

Anna: "Well, if Bert can read it, don't you think your own daughter can?"

Robert: "Well, the same thing applies to you too."  (Robin comes downstairs when she hears them arguing so she stops and listens.)

Anna: "Look, we can't leave this any longer.  It's gonna get worse."

Robert: "If we leave what any longer?"

Anna: "Telling her that we're her mother and father!"  (Robin overhears - shock and disbelief in her face is apparent.)

Robert (annoyed at her persistence): "Oh look, we can't tell her just yet.  She can't handle it.  There's too much going on."

Anna (frustrated): "Don't you think that she might suppose that we don't love her enought to tell her?"

Robert (in a warning tone): "Anna, I don't want to deal with this just yet."  (Robert walks over to WSB computer)

Anna: "What are you doing?"

Robert: "I want to get some more info on Wu and the Council of Six (Wu's businessmen/henchmen)."

Anna: "No!  We have to deal with this issue now!"

Robert: "Well, I don't want Robin to know that I'm her father and you're her mother just yet!!"

Anna: "We've got to tell her Robert!"

They continue to argue, not knowing that their little daughter has heard everything and has quietly snuck out of the house.
