Robert Worries About His Family's Future 2

Anna (coming down the stairs): "Robert, I put Robin down for a nap so we can continue our talk."

Robert: "About your's and Robin's future?"

Anna: "And Filomena. I intend to take care of everything."

Robert: "I intend to take care of both you and my daughter. However, I would love for her to spend summer vacation with me and Holly."

Anna: "That's not a problem Robert. Look, I've told you this. I find it important for Robin to spend as much time with you while she's growing up. I want her to do that. But as far as taking care of myself and Robin and Filomena... no. I don't want you to worry about us."  (She goes to couch, Robert follows her.)

Robert: "I'm not worried about it!"

Anna: "I'm sorry. You know what I mean. I shouldn't have said that."   (They sit on the couch.)

Robert: "However, look. I can't walk out that door without leaving you both with some kind of security."

Anna (annoyed): "That's not important."

Robert: "You make plans?"

Anna: "I've been thinking about things."

Robert: "That's not good enough."

Anna: "Look, I've uh, I've put some ideas out."

Robert: "Alright, like what?"

Anna: "Well obviously I can't go back to dealing in stolen goods. There's also no way I could go back into the WSB. You know, even if they take me, it just wouldn't be good for Robin."

Robert: "No, it wouldn't."  (He pauses to think) Y "ou own that apartment in New York?"

Anna: "No, it's rented."

Robert (worried by her answer): "You've gotta let me help you."

Anna: "We'll be all right Robert!"

Robert: "Oh, Anna. No home and no job?"

Anna: "Look, I want to stay here in Port Charles. Robin really loves it here. She loves the friends that she's made."

Robert: "Well, I'd like for you to stay here too. My friends would be your friends. I'd get a lot of comfort from that."

Anna: "I want you to be happy with where we are and I don't want you to worry, you know, because I'll work something out."  (She gets up and paces.)

Robert: "The truth is I knew this would be the way you'd feel. I've got an idea. It came to me earlier when Bert was here. He gave it to me but I'm sure he didn't realize it."

Anna: "What is it?"

Robert: "Now I know what your reaction's gonna be..."

Anna (impatient): "Well, don't predict what I'm gonna think Robert."

Robert:   "How would you feel about a job as co-police commissioner with Bert?" (He waits and smiles.)

Anna (her eyes widen):  "Oh, Robert this is crazy."

Robert: "I knew this was... I knew you'd react this way."

Anna: "Nobody in the world is gonna accept me as that.  It won't work!"

Robert: "But if it did work, would you consider it?"

Anna: "Come on. I'd have to do a lot of thinking about something like that. It wouldn't... (She huffs and puffs.)

Robert: "Anna, look. I have to know that both your futures are secure before I go back to Australia. So please think about it hard. Please."

Anna (annoyed): "Oh alright."
