New Beginnings

Anna finally comes to accept the position of co-police chief and Robert requests she be allowed to live in his home. The DA, declines his request. [Sorry this is so short guys-but it is very to the point.]

Anna: "Robert, it doesn't matter. Robin and I will find someplace else to live."

Robert: "Look. Don't worry, I...don't worry. Morgan will change his mind."

Anna: "I don't want you to do that."

Robert: "Now look, I ... you." (He's ready to argue the issue.)

Anna: "I...I don't want to live here!!"  (There's silence between them.)  "I..." (She looks down.)

Robert: "You don't? Why not?"

Anna: "Oh come on. You don't really have to ask that do you? I mean look, this house- it's like a living memory for you. I couldn't live here. Not with all the memories and...you not here."

Robert: "I don't know what to say. I guess that never occurred to me."

Anna: "Robert..." (She turns him towards her.)  "You've done so much for us. My goodness, you've
given me a brand new career, a chance to do something worthwhile to make Robin proud of me. Now I can take care of the rest and I want to. I want to have a completely new beginning now, Robert, please."

Without saying a word Robert accepts her explanation and the scene ends.
