The Last Day of the
Scorpio's Honeymoon in France
Wearing a flowing, strapless blue floral
gown, Anna's waiting in their hotel room. Wanting to be alone with her new groom,
she's cancelled their dinner reservations downstairs and had a private meal delivered,
complete with champagne and candlelights. Robert's in the adjoining bathroom,
dressing up in his tux, and is unaware of the change in dinner plans. The melody for
"I Only Have Eyes for You" plays in the background as Anna walks over to the
balcony, opens the french doors and pensively stares out. Looking handsome in his
tux, Robert then comes into the bedroom, spots the table setting, and looks confused.
Robert (referring to the food): "What's this?"
Anna (turns around): "Oh. Surprise."
Robert: "But we have reservations..." (He motions downstairs.)
Anna: "No, I changed it. They brought in all of this while you were dressing."
(He picks up Anna's matching shawl off the bed and walks over to her.) Robert: "I guess I've had my fill of France anyway." (He unfolds her shawl.)
Anna: "Hmm, thanks." (With her back to him, he wraps the shawl around her shoulders and hugs her tightly to him.) "The last day of our honeymoon." (She closes her eyes and says in a solemn voice) "Um. I'm quite looking forward to getting back though. I'm looking forward to getting back to work. I want to do something exciting, something challenging."
Robert (equally solemn): "Yeah, me too."
Anna (tilts her head to the side and looks up at him): "You're not really listening, are you? What's the matter?"
Robert (kisses her cheek): "Sure I am. You want something exciting and challenging, and I agree." (A moment of silence passes between the two, both knowing what the other's thinking about.)
Anna (in a quiet voice, not looking at him): "We haven't really talked about Faison, have we?"
Robert: "We'll deal with that when we get back to town."
Anna: "Maybe we won't have to. He might have left already."
Robert: "Yeah, and pigs might fly. Tonight, I don't want to think about anything else but us. You and me." (He kisses her again.)
Anna: "This might be our last moment of privacy. Less of course you decide to take me away for our anniversary." (Both grin broadly.)
Robert: "Planning ahead already, are we?"
Anna: "Definately. Oh!" (She pulls away, tosses her shawl onto the bed, and walks over to the set table.) "I got your favorite dinner." (She lifts off the silver cover to reveal chinese food cartons.)
Robert (laughing): "Chinese take out in France. Where'd the hell you find that?"
Anna (smiling as she opens the carton): "Yellow pages."
Robert: "Oh. My favorite food, my favorite wife..."
Anna (interrupting): "You're ONLY wife."
Robert: "My only wife, I mean. It doesn't get any better than this."
Anna: "It doesn't." (Robert picks up the champagne bottle and pours glasses for the two.)
Robert (offering her a glass): "For you."
Anna (accepting): "Thanks."
Robert (toasting): "Here's to... here's to our days, tomorrows together."
Anna: "Forever." (They clink their glasses together and take sips.)
The scene fades out, then back later...... the newlyweds are slow dancing in their hotel room (incidently to the same music that was played while they were dancing back to Serenity, Dominique's home.)
Robert: "I don't want this night to ever end."
Anna: "It won't. That's why I married you."
Robert: "You know, I had a vision. But, oh my god, we went beyond that." (They smile broadly at one another, and he kisses her nose.)
Anna (wistfully): "I don't want this night to be over." (He kisses her cheek as they hug tighter.)
Robert: "It won't be then. Not if I have my way."
Anna (laughs): "You can." (Still dancing, he leads her over to the bed and sits her down on the bench at the foot of the bed, and sits down himself. Surprised, she stares at him as he pulls out from his coat pocket a long silver chain with a cameo on it.) "What's that?" (He lowers the cameo onto her palm to examine as he holds the chain part.)
Robert: "A little memento from the honeymoon."
Anna: "Oh, I love it. Is it antique?"
Robert (dropping the necklace into her palm): "Open it."
Anna: "It's beautiful." (She opens the cameo to find a picture of her and Robert on one side and Robin on the other.) "Oh, our family together. Oh, it's beautiful, Robert." (She gets up and looks happily at the necklace, spinning slowly around in her flowy dress. Robert watches entranced, and she slips the necklace over her head.) "I love it."
Robert: "Question."
Anna: "Um?"
Robert: "How does a woman become so feminine, and so sensual, and so alarmingly gorgeous?" (Anna laughs loudly.)
Robert: "Did you have a teacher?"
Anna (seductively): "I'm self taught."
Robert: "Oh?"
Anna: "It's a correspondence course."
Robert: "You ever graduate?"
Anna: "Um hm." (She lays down seductively on the bed and he gets up, walking over to her.) "Suma Cum Laude." (Smiling, he takes off her shoes and kisses her toes, making her laugh.)
The scene fades out, returns later..... The couple are asleep in their dark hotel room. Anna awakens, feeling cold and notices the french doors to the balcony door open. Slipping Robert's arm off, she walks over to shut the door, but notices something on the balcony. Reaching down, she picks up a note and a red orchid flower. Her face goes white reading the note, which says "I'm waiting for you. Faison." Tossing the flower and note off the balcony, Anna quietly shuts the door. Slipping back into bed, she looks over at Robert and pulls the covers up to her chin.
