Robin Interrogates Her Parents
Robin & Anna are waiting at a nice restaurant, with undercover officers seated at nearby tables...

Anna:  ".....Yes, does the sun shine or whatever it is?...."

Robin:  "Does the ocean roar?"

Anna: "Well, does it?"

Robin:  (unintelligible comments)

Anna:  "Well, what's the other one?" (both laugh)

Robert approaches grinning, with two bouquets of flowers
Robert: "Uhm."

Anna: "Hello."

Robert:  (to Anna) "Hi."

Robin: (to Robert) "Hi".

Robert: (to Robin) "Come here you." (they hug)

Robin:  "Oh daddy, I missed you so much!"

Robert:  "Makes two of us." (he presents Robin with a large bouquet of mixed flowers)

Robin:  "For me? Thank you...."

Robert: (to Anna as he hands her a bouquet of long stemmed roses)... "And last but not least, for you." (then kisses her and sits down)

Anna: "Glad you could make it."

Robert: "So, here we are.  The family, together, still...." (Anna laughs)

Robin: (smiling)..  "Armed guards or not, right?"

Anna:  "Oh, don't split hairs."

Robert:  "Better safe than sorry."

Robin:  "I know dad, but sometimes I feel a little cut off."

Robert:  "uh...well I know."

Robin: (shifting gears).. "Well, now that I've got the two of you together, maybe you can tell me exactly
what's going on, and don't spare any of the romance on my account."

(Robert and Anna get a sinking feeling, knowing what's coming. Robert looks at Anna)

Robert: "Cuts right to the chase, doesn't she?"

Anna: "Who's daughter is she?"

Robin: "Well, dad?"

Anna: (passing the buck) "Well, dad?"

Robert: "Yes, well...as it turns out... (takes a deep breath).. due to unforseen circumstances, your mother and
I have been, uh, working close lately..."

Robin: "How close?"

Robert: (looking at Anna) "How close?'

Anna: (smiling at him) "About this close."

Robert: "Well, she was my nurse"... (Anna clears her throat)... uh, co-investigator, uh, co-coordinator
for the emergency relief..."

Robin: (hopeful) "You're lover?"

Anna: "What!" (laughs nervously and covers her face with one hand)

Robin: "C'mon, I love you guys, I just want you to love each other, that's all."

Anna: "No, you just want to interrogate us! I mean, couldn't you just have waited longer than 5
minutes before you started in with all this personal stuff?"

Robin: "C'mon, I am simply exploring the question in the spirit of our possibly becoming a family again."

Anna: "Oh no, you're just being noisy, and you want to know everything."

Robin: "Only if it paints a complete picture."

Robert: (interrupting).. "Okay, okay... No, Anna... (takes a deep breath and grits his teeth, looks at Robin)..
"You are growing up, aren't you precious, um?"

Anna: (shaking her head) "I don't know how precious."

Robin: "I just want to know about the two people I love most in the world."

Robert: "Yeah... okay..."
(clears his throat, scoots his chair next to Anna, and puts his arm around the back of her
chair, and she smiles nervously as they lean against one another)
"...Yes, your mother and I are in love.   And yes, we're going to just take it from there...."
(Robin's just beaming with joy at her parents)
"...and see where it takes us..."

Anna:  "At our own pace, you know....."

Robert  "One foot in front of the other..."

Anna:  "And uh, does that answer you question?"

Robin: (frowning) "Not completely."

Anna:  "Oh."

Robin:  "Is this just a fling or is it gonna turn into something more permanent?"

Anna: (shaking her head)  "Uh, I don't know.  I think we should leave these questions for a little while later."

Robin:  "I think we should make the most of our time together. And I think it's time you two start
confronting some real questions."

(Robert and Anna drawback blinking, realizing they're about to hear a lecture. Withdrawing his arm,
he says to Anna)

Robert:  "Well, you said this was a great idea.

Anna: (to Robert)  "I just wanted to have a nice quiet evening, just the three of us, you know?

Robin:  "So why should tonight be any different? Aren't you guys tired of this off and on thing?
You should talk it out."

Robert:  "She really is your daughter."

Robin:  "I'm getting tired of all this dilly-dallying."

Anna:  "Now that ... (pointing at Robin) ..is Scorpio!" (looks at Robert, who glances away)

Robert:  "Where's that waitress, it's getting late."

Anna:  "I need some more wine." (reaches and takes a sip from her glass)

--- Breaks to another scene, returns later to ---

Robin: (glances behind her) "We got cops outside, why do we need them in here?" (referring to the
undercover cops at another table)

Robert: "Because I refuse to take any chances, not with my brother and his merry little band still at large."

Robin: (quietly) "This is getting old, dad."

Anna:  "For all of us."

Robert:  "Look I know it's difficult, but it's not gonna last for two much longer."

Frisco (approaches, interrupting.....) "Hey, hey, hey, hi everybody." (grabs a chair and scoots up between
Anna and Robin, and turns to Robin).... "Hi sweetheart." (looks back to Robert & Anna) "I here to
ease your mind a little bit."

Anna:  "I wish you would."

Frisco:  "Now, I've got men all over the docks. There's no way Mac's gonna get out of here on any ships."

Robert: (referring to the ships)  "Do you have the manifests?"

Frisco:  "Well, I talked to the headmaster, by the way, he's gonna do whatever he can to help us.
The Italian ship leaves at 8 O'clock, the Danish ship leaves at 12 O'clock estimate time."

Anna:  "Maybe it'll be over tonight."

Robert: (not convinced)  "Well, maybe."

Frisco:  "Well, don't get too excited... Um, one of the men checked over at the Eckerts. They
have a dinner guest... Finian O'toole."

Robert: (surprised and suspicious at the same time) "Finan?"

Frisco:  "He's supposedly invited for dinner."

Robert:  "He's not thick with the Eckerts. Why's he suddenly chummy?"

Frisco:  (also suspicious)   "It's the second time he's been there today too."

Robert:  "Let's find out why. Work out that search warrant, all right?"

Frisco:  "Right."

Anna: (to Robert) "You gonna go over there?"

Robert:  "Yes."

Anna:  "Uh, I want to go with you."

Robert:  "Okay. Uh, Frisco, if you need to, go to the judge's house, and we'll meet you there later."

Robin:  "Hey, what about dinner?"

Anna:  "No, no, it's all right, we're gonna finish dinner."

Frisco: (leaving)  "I'll get something on the road."

Robert:  "Good."
