Holly Leaves Robert
(Air date: July 17, 1985) part 3
The Scene fades out, and cuts to the
park. People are wandering about. Holly enters and starts to cross at at brisk pace.
Anna: "Holly!" (Holly stops dead, then slowly turns. Her expression becomes set, as Anna crosses over and stands before her.) "Please. I must speak to you."
Scene fades to commercial. Then back to the park...
Anna: "I've been following you."
Holly: "In training to become an agent again?"
Anna (shaking her head no): "I've been trying to work up the courage to face you."
Holly: "We have nothing more to say to one another."
Anna: "I think we do. There was no affair, Holly. At no time have I tried to take your husband from you. Even if I had tried it would have been impossible."
Holly: "Is that what you wanted to tell me? Your hands are clean? Well, fine, Anna. Now there are several things I must do before I leave today, so if that's it, I'll be going."
Anna: "No! You can't go away without believing what I've told you."
Holly: "Now you're asking too much. Besides, it doesn't matter whether I believe you or not. You're not the sickness, you're only a symptom."
Anna (frustrated): "How do I get through to you?"
Holly: "I don't knkow. But I don't think it's important that you do."
Anna: "Robert won't give you up. He'll follow you wherever you go, Holly."
Holly: "He won't find me."
Anna: "He'll find you."
Holly: "No, he won't. No one knows where I'm going, or even how I'm getting there."
Anna: "You underestimate him."
Holly: "Not at all, but I've learned a great deal from him. One thing I've learned is how to disappear completely."
Anna: "But why?"
Holly: "I don't owe you any explanations. Besides, I couldn't give you a simple answer."
Anna: "As soon as this treasure business if found, I'll be gone, long gone, and I assure you Robert won't even want to know where I've gone. He loves you."
Holly (beginning to lose her cool): "Why are you saying all this to me?"
Anna: "For Robert's sake, and for your sake!"
Holly: "Among other things, you are a hypocrite."
Anna: "Not about this. You don't know what you are throwing away."
Holly: "But I do."
Anna: "How can you be so cruel to Robert?"
Holly: "I could never be cruel to the Robert I thought I knew!"
Anna: "He's still the same man."
Holly: "You still love him."
Anna: "Yes. I never said I didn't love Robert... then or now. But it's hopeless for me. Don't you know that?"
Holly: "I don't think it's hopeless at all, Anna. Everything's going your way now."
Anna: "That's not true."
Holly: "No? You're here, Robert's here, and after today I won't be." (She's close to tears) "I don't want to talk to you anymore. Enough is enough. You don't understand how lost I feel." (Anna turns and walks off frustrated, whil Holly turns in the other direction as Bobbie and Jake enter the park.)
Bobbie: "Holly!" (But Holly goes past them, exiting fast and not really even noticing their presence. The couple stare after Holly, then look at one another.)
Jake: "What was that?"
Bobbie: "I don't know." (she looks in the other direction) "She was talking to Anna Devane."
Jake: "Do you have the feeling a lot is going on we don't know anything about?"
Bobbie: "Yes. And I have a feeling some of it is close to us."
Jake: "Can't get closer than having Anna Devane attacked in our basement."
Bobbie: "I'm beginning to get the feeling that my theory that some bum from the docks did it won't hold up. I wonder who did it... and why?"
Scene fades out, then to Sean
Donely's office. Prescott is standing to one one side as Sean's temporary secretary,
Janet, enters and goes over to Sean.
Janet: "Mr. Donely..."
Sean: "Yes, Janet?"
Janet: "Grant Andrews still hasn't returned your call, and I'd like to go to lunch."
Sean: "Keep trying to reach him at General Hospital. And as far as lunch is concerned, I have a number of other calls to make before you can go to lunch."
Janet (as she's exiting): "Yes, Mr. Donely. When I get hungry, I get scattered." (she exits)
Sean (to Prescott): "Grant Andrews is being damned elusive, and I don't like it."
Prescott: "You don't think he's on to the doublecross, do you?"
Sean: "No way. On the other hand, he's a doctor. Have you ever tried getting a doctor when you need one?"
Scene fades out, cuts to GH where Amy picks up the phone. It's Sean, looking for Grant, and an obnoxious Alan is lurking nearby. He starts to leave but hearing it's Sean on the phone, Alan comes back.
Amy: "No, Mr. Donely, Doctor Andrews isn't here. Have you tried his office?"
Alan: "Sean Donely?"
Amy (to Alan): "Yes."
Alan: "He probably wants me more than he wants Dr. Andrews." (Alan grabs the phone from Amy) "Sean...?"
Sean: "Yes?'
Alan: "This is Alan."
Sean: "Oh, well I was calling...."
Alan (cutting Sean off, the growing resentment evident in Alan's voice): "Alan Quartermaine, one of your partners. One of Grant's equal partners? Remember?"
Sean (catching on to Alan's resentment): "Of course. If this were a business call, I would have tried you before Grant."
Alan: "Oh? Well, nice of you to say that."
Sean: "My call to Grant... it's just one bachelor calling another bachelor to find out what the other is doing in the way of an evening's entertainment."
Alan: "Oh, I see." (He looks off and sees Grant) "Just a second, Sean... here's Grant now." (to Grant) "Grant... it's Sean for you."
Grant (looking somewhat annoyed): "Thanks." (He takes the phone) "Yes?"
Sean: "Don't say anything, just listen for a second. We have an ego problem on our hands, so I'm calling you, one bachelor to another, to find out what you're doing tonight. Got it?"
Grant: "Yes. Tonight? What ideas do you have?"
Sean: "I'd like to meet with you as soon as possible."
Grant: "Where do you think we'll find some action? I'm open to anything."
Sean: "My office. Can you come over during lunch."
Grant: "Sure. We can play it by ear."
Sean: "I'll be here."
Grant: "See you, Sean." (He hangs up) "Now, if you weren't a happily married man, Alan..."
Alan: "Yes, that's the way it is. But if you're going to talk any business tonight, Monica would understand."
Grant: "What's the saying? Never mix business with pleasure?"
Alan: "Bachelors!" (He goes over to an orderly who's stepping off the elevator) "There are those x-rays. About time."
Grant (to Amy): "Amy, I'm on my way out to have lunch. Would you sign me out, please?"
Amy: "Yes, doctor." (There's some hospital stuff here which I've cut out)
Amy (answering the ringing phone): "General Hospital, Second Floor, Miss Vining speaking."
Holly (who's on the other end): "Amy? This is Holly Scorpio."
Amy: "Oh, hi."
Holly: "I'd like to talk to Dr. Andrews."
Amy: "Oh, you just missed him. He left for lunch."
Holly: "Did he say where he was going?"
Amy: "I think he's having lunch with Sean Donely."
Holly: "Good... I might catch up with him at Kelly's."
Amy: "Good luck."
Holly: "Thank you. I need it. Goodbye."
Amy: "Bye." (She looks at the phone a little puzzled, then hangs up. Fade out to commercial.)
