Holly Leaves Robert
(Air date: July 17, 1985) part 4
The scene comes back to Kelly's diner
where Felicia is writing up an order for Frisco, who's seated at a table. Felicia is
subdued.
Felicia: "With or without onions?"
Frisco: "With."
Felicia: "Okay. I'll take this other order on my way out." (She stops at another table to take an order.)
Scene changes to Kelly's kitchen
where Holly is with a compassionate Ruby.
Holly: "I wanted to say goodbye to Bobbie,
too, but when I caught sight of her in the park, I was uptight, I couldn't stop to talk to
her. Will you tell her?"
Ruby: "Yes, and I'm so touched you came to say goodbye to me."
Holly: "Luke was part of the life I'm saying goodbye to. You're the closest I can come to saying goodby to Luke, too."
Ruby: "You know me, Holly, I don't ask questions. I don't need to know who or what or why... all I want to know is are you sure you are taking the right step."
Holly: "I won't if it's right or wrong for a long, long time, Ruby. " (At this point, Felicia enters the room but stops dead in her tracks when she hears what Holly says) "All I know is that I must leave Robert. At this moment, I see myself leaving him forever."
Felicia (interrupting): "NO!" (Both Ruby and Holly jump, startled)
Holly: "Felicia...."
Felicia: "You're not."
Holly: "I am, darling."
Felicia: "But you.... and Robert... "
Holly: "It's over."
Ruby: "Why do you have to leave Port Charles?"
Holly: "I must." (She moves to leave) "And I must go now." (suddenly remembering) "Oh... has Grant Andrews been in for lunch?" (Felicia shakes her head no) "I wanted to catch up with him before I leave town." (She kisses and embraces Ruby, and gives Felicia a kiss on the cheek. Felicia's dazed by the news, while Ruby fights tears. Holly quickly turns and exits without looking back.)
Ruby (when Felicia sadly looks at her): "I don't have the answers, Felicia, I swear I don't." (Felicia puts down the orders and exits fast, going back out front. She watches as Holly passes the window outside, the goes over and slowly sits down across from Frisco.)
Frisco: "What's the matter?"
Felicia: "Holly is leaving Robert."
Frisco: "You've got to be kidding."
Felicia: "No."
Frisco: "I saw her walking out. Are you sure?"
Felicia: "Yes." (she takes a deep breath) "So it's reached out and wrecked their lives. too."
Frisco (wearily): "What?"
Felicia: "The treasure. I didn't think anything could wreck what they had together."
Frisco: "Maybe it's.... you know, temporary. That happens in marriages, I'm told. It happens."
Felicia (firmly shaking her head): "It wouldn't have happened if the treasure hadn't touched them."
Frisco (shaken by the tears flowing down her face): "Ah, come on, Felicia." (She turns and looks at the diarama over the counter area)
Felicia (shivers): "I don't even want that part of the treasure so near me."
Frisco: "Shh.... keep it down."
Felicia: "Get rid of it, Frisco. Get rid of it and get away from it!"
Frisco (trying to calm her down): "Hey, baby....."
Scene fades to commmercial. Then
fades in to Robert's office where Bert is standing and looking at Robert who's slumped at
his desk.
Robert: "I can't get moving, Bert."
Bert: "I can tell you, it's going to take me time not to expect Holly to come bouncing through this door."
Robert: "Immobilized, that's what I am."
Bert: "I'd say take the rest of the day off, except I know what you'd say."
Robert: "What for?"
Bert: "That's what you'd say. Anything I can do, Robert?"
Robert: "Put up with me."
Bert: "That's easy."
Robert: "I think it's asking a lot."
Bert: "Okay, if you think so."
Robert: "It's as though my life stopped. I don't mean like dying. It's just as though everything has stopped." (He looks at his watch) "The second hand's moving, if the bloody thing ticked, it would be ticking... but I'm stopped."
Bert (sitting down): "I know you've got a lot going on, Robert..."
Robert: "Do I? Yes, I do."
Bert: "Do you see an open spot ahead."
Robert: "Open spot?"
Bert: "Where you might take some time and go after Holly? Get out of Port Charles, see her and talk to her in a new... what do I want to say?... atmosphere?"
Robert: "If there's one thing I have to do right now is respect Holly's wishes. I've got to give her that."
Bert: What are they?"
Robert: "She doesn't want me to follow her. She doesn't want me to find her. It's very important to her. So... I've got to give her that." (He shakes his head) "I want to give her the whole world."
Bert: "Something will get you rolling again."
Robert: "I don't know, Bert."
Bert: "Well, don't push it."
Robert: "O'Reilly had a saying when something awful happened. She used to say sometimes you've just got to stand still and let it hurt. Don't buck it or avoid it." (His telephone rings, and Robert picks it up.) "Scorpio here." (He glances at Bert) "Yes, he is." (He hands the phone to Bert) "Dectective Hansen."
Bert (taking the phone): "Yes, Hansen? Oh? What have you got?" (Bert suddenly looks alert) "You're sure of that? That's good work. I'll tell the police commissioner." (He hangs up. Robert's turned away, not paying attention)
Bert: "Robert? I had Henson tracking down the name of the real buyer of the antique pullman car at that auction."
Robert: "Yes?"
Bert: "Sean Donely."
Robert: "So it starts again with Sean!" (He turns in his chair, lifts his head and looks at Bert. A sharp, alert look comes into his expression.)
Scene fades out, and picks ups with Sean's office. Sean and Grant are in the communications rrom with the door closed.
Sean: "We've got a real problem with Alan Quartermaine's ego. I caught it on the phone with him."
Grant: "When it's hospital ship business, the three of us have to meet. When you and I get together to discuss the treasure, the meetings have got to look like two bachelors getting together."
Sean: "Or Alan's going to start to get nosy."
Grant: "That's it."
Sean: "You're right, Grant, absolutely right."
Grant: "This is the last time I should come to your office to met you."
Sean: "All right. We'll work out other places to meet. Partytime up in my penthouse."
Grant: "Two bachelors whooping it up, that way Alan won't want to be included." (The phone rings and Sean answers it.)
Sean: "Yes, Janet."
Janet: "Two things, Mr. Donely."
Sean: "Yes, what?"
Janet: "You've got a ship-to-shore call from the hospital ship."
Sean: "I'll take it."
Janet (quickly): "And can I go to lunch now?"
Sean: "Go. Connect me."
Janet: "You're on."
Sean (into the phone): "Donely speaking."
Scene cuts to Janet in the outer room where Janet is frantically gathering up her purse, sunglasses and bag lunch. She's interrupted when the phone rings.
Janet: "Sean Donely's office. Oh, Gordy, I'm leaving right now. Honest." (She hangs up as Holly enters. Half-up from her desk, Janet looks dismaying at Holly.)
Holly: "Hello..."
Janet: "Hello. I'm on my way out to lunch. My boyfriend's been waiting and waiting..."
Holly: "I won't keep you. By any chance is Dr. Grant Andrews here."
Janet (heading for the door): "Yes, he's with Mr. Donely. Go right on in."
Holly: "Thank you." (She watches Janet rush out and then goes over to the closed door to Sean's inner office. She thinks about knocking and then shrugs. She enters... and looks at an empty room.) "What was that girl talking about?"
The scene switches to the hidden communications room) Sean (into the phone): "Weather report okay? Good. Then the ship will dock at Nags Head at the agreed time. Thank you." (He puts the phone down and doesn't notice that the phone slips off it's cradle.
The scene switches back to an annoyed
Holly in the inner office.
Holly: "This is ridiculous. What got into that
girl telling me Grant was here with..." (on the word "what" Holly slams her
purse down on Sean's desk and his inter-office communications board. Holly whirls about
when she hears over the speaker....)
Sean (over the speaker): "The weather's good, Grant, luck is with us."
Grant: "And let's hope it holds. Once we get the treasure on the ship, we don't want any delays in getting the hell out of Nags Head."
(Holly's eyes widen with shock and she looks toward the door to the Communications room) Holly (softly): "Grant and Sean......"
Grant: "When the wedding party gets off the pullman at Love's head..."
Sean: "We move the treasure from the pullman to the ship."
Holly (after a moment of frozen shock): "I've got to tell Robert!"
She turns to exit fast and runs right into Prescott. She opens her mouth to scream, but he grabs her and roughly covers her mouth. She stares at him, freightened as the scene fades out to commercial.
