The Start
of Sean and Monica's Affair
*This wonderful
transcript was done by MncaWnbe/Jami for Quartermania, which no longer
seems to be in existance.*
Monica is treating Sean for a strange heart condition. They are growing closer and closer. In this scene, Monica confides to Sean about her failing marriage. It's late evening. Monica walks into Sean's hospital room.
Monica:
"I was walking by and saw the light on. What's wrong? Couldn't sleep?"
Sean: "No, just got woken up about an hour ago by a nurse masquerading as a vampire.
And just what are you doing wandering around here this early in the morning, doctor?"
Monica: "I had a patient in CICU. I thought I should be here overnight. So would you
like to go on with your reading, or would you like to chat?"
Sean: "Oh, let's chat, by all means. Isn't this kind of dedication rather rough on your
marriage?"
Monica: "No. In fact, I don't think Alan has even noticed that I'm gone."
Sean: "How could any man fail to notice that a beautiful woman like you was not in his
bed?"
Monica: "To be honest, I'm not sure if he's even home."
Sean: "Oh."
Monica: "Pretty clear, isn't it."
Sean: "Oh, it's all pretty clear to me."
Monica: "What?"
Sean: "I would never forget that a beautiful woman like you was in my bed."
Monica: "Um, well, I don't know. But I do think there are some things about a woman
that are more important than sex in the long run."
Sean: "Like what?"
Monica: "Well, like intellectual rapport. I had it once. A long time ago. Unfortunately,
the man was married, and I was married, and we both stayed married. But that was
truly the one thing that truly made Alan very jealous."
Sean: "Why just that man?"
Monica: "Because he knew there was something there more than just sex. There was
rapport. It drove him crazy."
Sean: "I figured you could do that to a man. Now, this intellectual rapport you're talking
about. Seems like a very dangerous commodity."
Monica: "Well. I believe it's broken up more marriages than red-hot sex."
Sean: "So the combination would help a very healthy marriage, is that right?"
Monica: "Yeah, I think so."
