Monica and Sean at the Grille

Summer 1990

Monica is sitting alone at the Port Charles Grille when Sean approaches her.

Sean: Monica?

Monica: Well, Sean! Long time, no see.

Sean: I've been busy. Are you alone?

Monica: For the moment. Ned and Dawn are joining me shortly. But please, sit down.

Sean: Thank you.

Sean: You know, it's always a pleasure for me to see you.

Monica: And it's always a pleasure for me to see you.

Sean: I understand you've been quite busy, too.

Monica (laughing): Well, if you want to call it that. Actually, yes, I have been busy, I've been planning Dawn's wedding.

Sean: Oh, yes, Ned is a very lucky young man. And of course, Alan is a very stupid man. Sorry.

Monica: Don't be, don't be. It was inevitable. I'm actually surprised it lasted this long.

Sean: You know, I'm rather surprised that you and I didn't last longer. Of course, if I had my way, we would have.

Monica: Well, that was a long time ago.

Sean: I never forgot.

Monica: You certainly know how to make a girl feel good, I'll say that.

Sean: I think you should feel good all the time. So I'll repeat myself: Alan is stupid.

Monica: Does Tiffany know just what a flirt you are?

Sean: Absolutely. (they laugh). She lets me flirt as much as I want, I'm just not allowed to do anything about it.

Monica: Well, you are incorrigible.

Sean: But harmless.

Monica: Okay, enough about me. What about you.

Sean: Before we get into that, I'd like to say something. If you ever need anything, if you ever need my help, just say so.

Monica: Thank you.

Sean: I think I owe you a few.

Monica: Well, that was a long time ago.

Sean: Yes, it was.

Monica: The old Aztec treasure caper.

Sean: Please, don't remind me of that one.

Monica: Come on! You started to bring it up. My, you certainly had a fear of going to jail, didn't you?

Sean: As you said, it was a long time ago.

Monica: I really didn't think that you and Robert were going to come through that.

Sean: I didn't either.

Monica: I don't think most friendships would hold up under that. Yours did. In fact, I think you're probably better friends now than you've ever been.

Sean: Yeah.

Monica: I don't know how I got myself into that. I could have lost my career, you know.

Sean: You know, Monica, sometimes friends do the wrong things for the right reasons.
