Holly Learns the Truth about Anna's Scar

Holly has returned to Robert and they are trying to make things work. This scene, Robert meets Anna to discuss the treasure.
Robert:  “Felicia also told me there was a transportation package sold at the fairground.”

Anna: “What's that got to do with anything?”

Robert:  “It included the infamous pullman car where Tony was shot.”

Anna (eyes wide):  “Oh, I see. Well who bought it?”

Robert:  “I don't know. Bert's checking into it.”

Anna: “You think Sean had something to do with it?”

Robert:  “Would that surprise you?”

Anna: “No. Not at all. What do you think he's going to do? Transport the treasure in the pullman?”

Robert:  “My best guess. I uh, also found the crown jewels.”  (He starts to smile)

Anna: “What? Where?”

Robert (laughing):  “At Kelly's.”

Anna (shocked):  “What are they doing there?”

Robert:  “Courtesy of Frisco and Felicia.”  (They both laugh)

Anna: “Are you serious?”

Robert:  “The WSB could do worse than hire them.”

Anna: “Well are you sure the jewels are there?”

Robert:  “Felicia's face said it all. I just sort of passed an innocent glance over and she practically passed out in front of me.”

Anna (both laughing):  “So what are you gonna do now?”

Robert:  “I think I might leave them there.”

Anna: “Are they safe?”

Robert:  “Couldn't think of a better hiding place. I know where the crown jewels are. Frisco and Felicia, they reckon they've fooled me. I couldn't have thought of a better place myself.”  (The laughter continues. Robert gets ready to leave)

Anna: “Oh Robert. How about Holly? How…”

Robert:  “Um. It's close. We're getting near to reconciling.”

Anna: “Well, it's the best news I've had this week.”

Robert:  “You and me both.”

Anna: “I'm very happy for you. And don't worry about me because I'm going to stick to my plan and I'll be out of Port Charles as soon as we wrap this case up.”

Robert:  “Anna, I...I want to thank you. For everything.”

Anna: “You better leave.”

Robert:  “I...I honestly never set out to hurt you.”

Anna: “I know that. (gives him a reassuring smile) Go on. You better go.”

Later in Anna's hotel... Grant has figured out that the scar is fake. He removes it and Anna forgets she's not wearing it when she opens her door to see Holly standing there.
Holly (confused):  “Your scar?”

Anna (turns to Grant):  “Would you mind leaving us, Grant?”

Grant:  “Uh no. Of course not. I'll see you later.”

Robert:  “Yeah.”  (She closes door)

Holly (staring at her with contempt):  “Now you see it. Now you don't. Is it magic Anna, or what?”

Anna: “Look. I didn't expect you to understand anything about this scar. Even if I tried to explain.”

Holly:  “Stop it! You really think that I would believe any explanation that you would give me?”

Anna: “What do you want me to say?”

Holly:  “Tell me that it's a nightmare. I'm gonna wake up in the morning. Everything's gonna be alright.”

Anna: “Oh I wish I could.”

Holly:  “You wish?”

Anna: “Yes! More than anything.”

Holly:  “Anna Devane doesn't wish, she just takes! Whatever it is that she wants. Does Robert know that the scar is fake?”  (Anna looking guilty, so Holly nods in understanding)  “Well, there's my answer. What are you trying to do to me?”

Anna: “Holly, look. It's not the way it seems. I promise.”

Holly:  “Is your scar just a tactic to stop me from being suspicious of an affair that you've been having with my husband?”

Anna: “No. No. That's not it at all!!”

Holly:  “An affair, that I may add, you haven't even had the good taste to conduct in private! You've just been running around for all of Port Charles to see!”

Anna: “You're completely wrong.”

Holly:  “No, I'm completely a fool for believing either of you! It's so sick! What kind of a life do you lead? You just do anything to anybody to get what you want?”

Anna: “Look you don't have to accept my reasons for any of this.”

Holly:  “Oh good!

Anna: “Because they don't matter! Don't you see that? It's your marriage! That's what's important! You've got to believe in that.”

Holly:  “Marriage?

Anna: “Yes.”

Holly:  “What marriage?

The scene fades out… and continues later between Holly and Anna at Anna's hotel room.
Anna: “Would you...would you like a cup of tea?”

Holly:  “Now?

Anna: “Well, why not?”

Holly:  “You just destroyed what little hope I had for my marriage and you're asking me if I want a cup of tea? No thank you. I don't think I want a cup of tea or anything from you as a matter of fact. Don't you think you've done enough for me already?”

Anna: “Well, I hope you don't mind if I have one.”

Holly:  “Well since when do you care if I mind or not? You could probably sit and have a cup of tea in the middle of a bombing!”

Anna: “Yeah, I have, as a matter of fact.”  (She sits down and pours her tea)

Holly:  “Oh, with my husband? What else have you shared with him that I haven't?”

Anna: “Don't do this to yourself Holly, please.”

Holly:  “Me? Well, you and Robert have done this all for me, thank you very much! I'm just confirming something that I realized a long time ago.

Anna: “You have no way of knowing.”

Holly:  “You're right. I have no way of knowing. I'm not used to being up against masters of deceit. Professional liars. People who just lie. They're taught to lie! Good Lord, you really fooled me! I bought your whole little routine right from the very beginning. I even believed that damn scar of yours! And to think that I actually felt sorry for you.

Anna (starting to cry):  “Look, I don't expect you to listen to me or believe anything I say, but I didn't wear that scar for anything that was going on between Robert and I!”

Holly:  “Oh? It was a new fashion, was it? Yes, very chic. Very nice.

Anna: “It was a penance.”  (She looks down)  “I betrayed my country. I was responsible for a fellow agent being killed and I betrayed Robert.”

Holly:  “And which of those three bothered you the most or need I ask?”

Anna: “I didn't have to wear the scar. I chose to. It was a constant reminder of what I'd done… a scarlet letter.”

Holly:  “Well, why didn't you ask your darling Robert to refresh your memory every now and then? I'm sure he would have been very happy to oblige.”

Anna (annoyed): “Oh come on Holly! Robert loves you, not me! I think more than you even realize.”

Holly:  “I am so sick and tired of hearing you pleading his case. I don't care what you think anymore! I don't care what you say! Why should I? Both of you! You lie so well, that's why you're obviously meant for each other!”

Anna (gets up):  “You are making a terrible mistake!”

Holly:  “You know what? I don't care anymore! You do what you like with Robert. You both deserve each other.”  (Holly goes to leave and Anna grabs her arm)

Anna: “Please Holly, give him another chance!”

Holly:  “Never! Never again!

Holly storms out and Anna frantically reaches for the phone to warn Robert. No answer at his office so she tries Kelly's.
Anna: “Hello Ruby? Ruby, this is Anna Devane here. Have you seen Robert at all? Look if you see him, can you tell him that he's got to ring me immediately. It's urgent. Yeah. Thank you very much.”  (She hangs up)  “Oh Robert. What have I done? Oh I'm so sorry.”
