This takes place the morning after Anna refuses to take Duke back despite his pleas at her hotel room and on the plane ride from New York. Robin is in the living room flipping through her notebook, preparing to go to school. |

Filomena (carrying a bag of cookies from the kitchen): "You share them with your friends." (She hands Robin the cookies.) Robin: "Um, okay. Do you think mommy will be awake before I go to school?" Filomena: "Well, I don't know. She came in very late last night, long after you were sound asleep, so I think this morning she better sleep as much as she can, right?" Robin: "Um... did you talk to her? Is she okay?" Filomena (shrugs): "Well, I talk to her a little bit. She's fine, but she was very tired, so that was that. Well, now you go finish your breakfast, hey?" (Robin starts to walk towards the kitchen.) Anna (coming down the hall from her bedroom, dressed in her nightgown and robe): "Anybody up?" (Seeing Robin, she rushes over, drops to her knees and hugs her.) Robin: "Mommy! Oh my gosh, I missed you so much!" Anna: "Ooh, uh, look at you. How are you?" (To Filomena) "How are you, Filomena?" Filomena: "Bonjourno." Anna (to Robin): "If you had a dream last night that somebody crept into your room and gave you a goodnight kiss, it wasn't a dream." Robin: "Do you know what I dreamed?" Anna (smiling): "Okay." Robin: "I dreamed that I was at school telling all my friends that I was going to stay in Port Charles forever. And that wasn't all." Anna: "What else did you dream?" Robin: "They were glad that I, that I wasn't going away." Anna: "They were glad were they?" (She looks knowingly at Filomena.) "Well, they're going to be very glad too." Robin: "Well, what do you mean?" Anna: "We're staying." Robin: "We're staying?" Filomena: "Oh, we stay?" Anna: "Yes, we are staying. This will be our home forever, but I can't guarantee that extra day." Robin (hugging her): "Oh mommy." (Anna winks at Filomena and hugs Robin tighter.) The scene fades out,
then returns later. Anna and Robin are seated on the couch. Filomena is bringing
Anna a glass of juice from the kitchen. Robin: "So what are you going to do mommy?" Filomena (sitting down in the side chair): "The main thing is whatever your mommy does, she does it here in Port Charles. We're a family, and is no good to be up, um, rooted. There's too much of that going on these days." Anna: "I agree. (She pauses for a moment.)"I'm thinking of becoming a PI." (She leans over and places the glass on the side table.) Filomena: "Uh, oh. What is a PI?" Anna: "Oh, it's a private investigator." Filomena: "Oh." Robin: "Wow, a PI? You mean like on Moonlighting?" Anna (smiling at Robin's tv reference): "Like on Moonlighting, exactly. Do you approve?" Robin (smiles): "I think so, as long as we stay in Port Charles." Anna: "Well, we'll stay in Port Charles, I promise you that. And I think I'll earn a darn sight more money that I did on the police force." Filomena: "Oh, that is good to earn more money." Anna: "Certainly is good. And I won't have the police board breathing down my neck, that's a big plus." (To Robin) "So we will be a proper Port Charles family again. And you'll have all your friends and all your millions of godfathers, more than any little girl in the world." (She lovingly cups Robin's chin.) Robin: "Mommy?" Anna: "Hmmm?" Robin: "What about uncle Duke?" Filomena: "That is a very good question, bambina mia." Anna: "I have to answer this?" Filomena: "I think so." Robin: "He's well, you know. Can I spend some time with him?" Anna: "Yes, darling." Robin: "Can I go to the zoo with him and stuff? Anna: "Yes." Robin (barely giving Anna a chance to answer): "And can I go with him to the Park....?" Anna: "Yes, uh, of course you can go, darling." Robin: "...and go with him to the museum and..." Anna: "Yes, darling, yes." Robin: "...will he be part of the family?" Anna (pauses before answering): "No, I don't think so." Robin: "Well, just a friend?" Anna (nods): "That's about it, yes." Filomena: "Yes. But who knows what happens after the friendship." Anna (annoyed): "Filomena, please." Robin: "Well, if all those terrible things hadn't happened at the wedding, well he was ten minutes away from becoming my.." Anna (throws her hands up in anger): "All right, this is the end of that chapter, okay?" Filomena: "Yes, but not the end of the book." Anna (trying to change the subject): "Does she have to go to school?" (To Robin) "Don't you have to go to school?" Filomena: "Well, almost. She has to have her breakfast. Come on. Go finish, go finish." Robin (getting up and moving towards the kitchen): "Okay, okay." (Filomena gets up to follow Robin but Anna stops her.) Anna: "Filomena." Filomena: "Si?" Anna: "See, I don't want to hurt the child but it's over with Duke and I forever. I don't know how I can stress that anymore clearly." Filomena: "Oh, forever is a very long time." Anna: "But that's the way it is. I don't want to give her any false hopes. I've had enough false hopes." (She storms off to her bedroom.) |
