Felicia Snubs Sam

This is taken from a script, so the actual aired scene maybe a little different, depending on how much the scene was ad-libbed.

This scene takes place in the police academy work out room. Frisco is paired up with Samantha (Sam), while Captain Lewis is running the judo class. Lewis is using Frisco and Sam as models. The scene begins with Sam, in tight workout clothes, demonstrating the full-Nelson on Frisco.

Lewis's voice: "...There she goes... the full-Nelson... not bad. Now I want to see Jones break the hold."

Frisco (enjoying Sam's proximity): "Is than an order, sir?" (The class laughs.)

Sam (furious): "Stop it, Frisco, I'm the enemy!"

Frisco: "Some enemy! I'm tempted to lose the battle!" (Louder laughter from their classmates.)

Lewis (irritated): "Cut the horseplay, hero! Break the hold."

Frisco: "No problem, sir." (He tries and fails to break the hold because Sam's got him hog tied.) "Sam, what in the hell's the matter with you?"

Sam: "I'm the enemy, remember?"

Lewis: "What's holding you up, Jones?"

Frisco (whispering to Sam): "Come on, Sam... what are you trying to do?"

Sam: "Subdue the enemy, what else? Say Uncle!"

Frisco: "Uncle!" (He tries harder to break the hold, Sam lets up, and he succeeds. The class applauds.)

Lewis: "What took you so long?"

Frisco (cocky): "I was testing the enemy, sir!"

Lewis: "Sure you were. That's it for the day. Class dismissed." (The class breaks up and exits the room, leaving Frisco and Sam alone. It's obvious she's avoiding him. He goes up to Sam, who's toweling off, very icy.)

Frisco: "Sam? Is something wrong?"

Sam: "What could be wrong?"

Frisco: "You mad at me or something?"

Sam: "Don't be ridiculous."

Frisco: "What were you trying to prove? That you're stronger than your buddy physically?"

Sam: "What were you trying to prove? That female partners are only sex partners?"

Frisco (shaken up): "You are made at me!"

Sam: "People don't get mad, dogs do. People, especialy female ones on the job, are to be treated as an equal. Page twenty-four of the cadet manuel!"

Frisco: "Hey, look, Sam..."

Sam: "The name is Samantha, I am a femal person capable of doing a cop's job..."

Frisco: "Whoever said you weren't?"

Sam: "I don't need a sexist for a partner. If I wanted one, I would have asked to be teamed up with Eric!"

Frisco: "Sam, I'm really sorry, I got wa out of line..."

Sam: "You got the laugh you were asking for..."

Frisco: "At your expense. You're right, I'm no better than Eric. I apologize."

Sam: "You don't have to make a Federal case out of it..."

Frisco: "Okay, I won't. How about lunch to kiss and makeup?" (He stops, realizing his gaff.) "Sorry, that was a sexist remark!"

Sam (unable to suppress her smile): "Okay, we're on for lunch! Unless you have a meaningful engagement with the lady chief of police?" (They both burst out laughing and leave the room arm in arm.)

The scene fades out, then returns later. Frisco and Sam have changed clothes and are coming down the academy hallway, near the classroom. It's lunchtime and Felicia spots the two coming towards her.

Frisco: "Look who's here!"

Felicia (looking Sam up and down): "I'm Felicia."

Frisco: "Uh... this is Sam, Felicia."

Felicia: "Sam? This is Sam?"

Sam: "Samantha Welles. How do you do?"

Frisco: "Yeah. Sam and I were going to lunch. How about making it a threesome?" (Felicia takes Frisco's arm.)

Felicia: "Sorry, Sam. But Frisco and I have a previous commitment."

Sam: "Oh? Oh, sure." (To Frisco) "Maybe some other time."

Felicia: "I wouldn't count on it. Frisco's up to his neck in commitments." (She hustles Frisco off. An embarrassed Sam looks on, bewildered.)

Frisco: "Did you have to be so rude?"

Felicia: "So I finally got to meet your old buddy, Sam! Men!"
