After the L'Orleans fiasco blows up, Anna's reputation is destroyed. Both she and Robin are harrassed by the public who accuse Anna of covering up for Duke. Although Duke and Camillia are exonerated by the Canadian courts, Anna decides to resign as police chief because of the damage done to her reputation and that of the Port Charles police department. She also decides to move back to New York and takes an unhappy Robin there to visit. Both try to put on a brave face for one another, but they're obviously quite miserable. This scene takes place after the two come back to their hotel room from a shopping spree. |

Anna: "My goodness. My feet are going to fall off, I tell you. I forgot you aren't suppose to walk around in high heels in New York, you're suppose to wear tennis shoes." (she sits down on her bed) Robin (closing the hotel door): "All that shopping's made me hungry." Anna: "Made you hungry? We can be very fancy and order up some room service for dinner, would you like that?" Robin (not sounding too enthused): "Well, that'd be great." Anna (grimacing, trying to sound happy): "Are you having a good time, darling?" Robin: "Well, I hardly miss being back in Port..." (her voice cracks) "Charles." Anna (kneeling down in front of her): "Oh. I know you're gonna miss your friends in Port Charles and we had some wonderful memories of that place, but it's behind us now, you see? We've got to look ahead of us, you understand?" Robin: "Yes, mommy." Scene fades out, returns later.... Robin's wearing a new hat, holding another one in her hand while Anna's laying out all of Robin's new outfits on Robin's bed. Anna: "Which outfit would you like to wear tomorrow when we go to the Children's Museum?" Robin (pointing to one): "That one." Anna: "This one?" (she picks it up, looking at it) "I like this one." (She turns and smiles at Robin) "I did enjoy shopping with you today." Robin: "Me too. Better than anything." (Anna drops the outfit, grabs Robin's shoulder, and pulls her over to the chairs by the table.) Anna (sitting down): "Do you remember when you used to live here? And I couldn't live with you and Filomenia and I couldn't let anyone know you were my daughter? And when we went shopping before, I used to have to pretend you were my little friend?" Robin: "I remember. That was a long time ago." Anna: "No, really, it was just two years ago. It seems like a long time ago, though. I feel like I'm discovering New York all over again because I'm with you. And because I can tell everyone you're my daughter now." Robin: "Is this your favorite city?" Anna: "Yeah. Certainly the most exciting. What do you think?" Robin: "I like any place, as long as I'm with you, mommy." Anna (smiles): "Good. There's just one problem with New York, though." Robin: "What?" Anna: "There's just too much to do and there's too much to see. They have everything here." Robin: "Not everything." Anna: "Really." Robin: "New York doesn't have Kelly's." Anna: "Oh. Well, we can find a substitute Kelly's. In fact, we can find a substitute anything else you care to think of." Robin: "Maybe my godfathers could come to visit us. That'd be fun." Anna: "Yeah. They're very special, aren't they? I'm sure they'll come to visit you. You'll make a lot of friends here in New York, you know." Robin: "I will. But you're the most important person in the whole world to me, mommy." Anna (touched): "Oh. Give us a hug." (they hug tightly, both miserable.) Scene fades out, returns
later.... Robin: "I'd rather have dinner now." Anna: "You want to skip the movee?" Robin: "Yes." Anna: "Okay, I agree. What do you want to eat? We can have anything we want." Robin: "I feel like a real New York hotdog." Anna: "A New York hotdog? We can get those on any street corner." Robin: "I don't mind eating on the street." Anna: "You want to eat on the street? I'd rather sit down to have my hotdog. Look, I'm gonna have a bath. Have a look at some television. I'll be back in a minute." (Robin intently watches as Anna goes into the bathroom and turns on the shower. Turning on the tv so that Anna will think she's watching tv, Robin quietly picks up the phone) Robin (dialing the operator): "Hello, operator? Can you help me make a phone call to Port Charles? Our room number?" (she picks up the room key and looks at it) "It's 9-3-0. Yes. The number in Port Charles? It's 555-8416." (She listens waiting for Filomenia to pick up on the other end) "Grandma?! Of course it's me." Anna (calling from the bathroom): "Hey, Robin! Can you bring me a hanger to put my clothes on?" Robin (to Filomenia): "Can you hold on a second? Okay." (she puts the phone down, runs over to the closet to get a hanger, and delivers it to Anna in the bathroom) "Here you go, mommy." Anna: "Thanks, darling." Robin (going back to the phone): "Grandma? Yeah, I'm here. I'm fine. How are all my dolls? Oh. Mommy and I went shopping today." (Anna comes out the bathroom in a robe, her hair in a towel and is surprised to find Robin on the phone. Robin's got her back to Anna, not realizing she's come out.) "Um? We're having hotdogs tonight." (Robin starts to sob a little) "I can't help it. I miss Port Charles so much. I'll never like living in New York. I wish mommy and I could be home with you... and Duke be my new father." Anna (dropping the towel she was folding, runs over to Robin): "Darling, come here. Sweetheart. Oh, darling." (she hugs Robin, who's crying, and speaks into the phone to Filomenia) "Hello? No, she's fine. I... I'm taking care... I'll call you later." (she hangs up and kneels down before Robin) "Sweetheart." Robin: "I'm sorry." Anna: "It's all right. You don't have to apologize for anything, darling. You were just trying very hard." Robin (looking down): "I'm not really good at it." Anna: "You're wonderful. It hasn't been a very good few weeks for you, has it? To tell you the truth, it's been rotten for me too." (they hug) Scene fades out, returns
later.... both are snuggled against one another on Anna's bed. Anna: "What's that, luv?" Robin: "Why did everything have to change?" Anna: "Well, that's what life's all about, changes. If it wasn't, you'd always be a little girl and you wouldn't grow up and do the things you want to do." Robin: "Uh, that's not what I meant." Anna: "What are you thinking about?" Robin: "Well.... when you love someone... didn't you say love never changes?" Anna: "Yes... I did." Robin: "But I know it changes." Anna: "Well, not if it's true love." Robin: "Don't you love my daddy anymore?" Anna (thrown): "Ah.. darling. It's complicated. Um... all that's important and all that you've got to remember is that your daddy and I love you very, very much. That will never change." Robin: "Duke loves me too." Anna: "Yes." Robin: "Well... if you don't love my daddy and you don't love uncle Duke, then I don't have a father." Anna: "Oh dear. I'm very sorry I've made you miserable. I don't know what to do to make it right. Maybe this trip to New York was a big mistake." Robin: "I tried very hard." Anna: "I know you did. And I could never, ever be angry at you for telling me how you feel. And don't you ever be afraid to tell me things." Robin: "If I did, would I be like uncle Duke?" Anna: "Yeah. I hadn't thought of that, but yeah, you're right." Robin: "How much longer do we have to stay in New York?" Anna: "You've had enough of this, haven't you?" Robin: "I like seeing the sights." Anna: "But you want to go back to Port Charles?" Robin: "Yes." Anna: "All right then, we will." Robin: "You mean it?" Anna (hugging Robin): "I'll call Filomenia now. Oh, there it is." Robin (smiles): "What?" Anna: "That gleam in your eye. I missed it, it makes me feel good." (she kisses Robin's forehead) Robin: "I'll go pack my suitcase." (both get up from the bed) Anna: "I'll call Filomenia and get her to come up. She can take you to see some of her friends in little Italy. The you and her can go back to Port Charles." Robin: "Well, what about you?" Anna: "I've got some business to take care of. And I'll be back in a day or two, alright?" Robin: "Promise?" Anna: "Pinky promise." (they interlock their pinks and smile at one another) Robin: "I love you." Anna (touched): "Oh." (she give Robin a tight hug.) |
